Whoops. I was just saying my Kindle Fire would try to read the microSD continuously and then the battery would die. Took out microSD and it stopped doing that.
I was thinking you were saying if you leave the wifi radio on then your Kindle would keep on talking to the Internet so much it would kill the battery. I notice a huge difference (battery lasts longer) if I turn off the wifi on the device.

That's exactly it. Leaving wifi on kills the battery, vs being able to read a few books over a few days/weeks between charges; so I keep wifi off except when I'm transfering books to it.

I read one, max two books a time and the perfect App I found is... my brain 
Once I read a series of books on three different devices and I simply kept in mind the point where I was.

I doubt there are many (or even any) apps that do it across platforms 
But if you're talking about multiple Android phones / tablets, there are plenty of apps if you just look in the Play store. Personally, I use FB Reader but I DKDC about multiple device support as I have just one phone.

I avoid the problem by only reading a book on one device. I have a Samsung Galaxy 8+ (the bigger screen version of the S8) and FBReader Pro ($4.99). I have loaded all the books I plan on reading to it - loads of room, I have about 300 books there at the moment. Once I have read one I plan on deleting it from my phone but I haven't bothered so far as I have oodles of space free and FBReader keeps track of what I have read and where I am in each book.
Why bother switching devices. I always have my phone with me and the reader is comfortable, clear, and works well.

When your phone is charging - I also have the 8+ and the battery life is excellent but every now and then I get caught out and find I have let it go too flat to read myself to sleep, irritating to say the least.
I only keep a minimum of books on the phone, Calibre stores and shares my library. Friends and children all contribute to the library.

Ignoring the obvious technology changes.
Mine is cooking different meals; when I was young I got what I was given. My dad often told me ifyou dont eat it now you'rehaving it for breakfast. I remember the same plate of liver and onions being put in front of me everyday for a week.
For my kids I did Carbonara at the weekend, except the boy doesn't like sauce so I had to give him plain pasta, bacon, and cheese all seperate on the plate (not touching). I'm too soft on them but couldn't be arsed with the constant I'm hungry whining if I hadn't have done it.

I went to school by walking, cycling or bus. No one came by car except the odd sixth-former in their dad's car. We played in the street until it got dark, or just went off exploring the local quarries and caves, and our parents thought nothing of it. There was only one single safe-space, and that was the world. If you found parts of it unsafe or uncomfortable, then hard luck you just got on with it.

Same here: about 2 1/2 miles each way, rain or shine for me. Mostly walking, as my cycle mending skills weren't that good in those days...

You definitely need egg(s). I use one egg for two persons.
Mix in a bowl the egg(s) with cheese (parmigiano would be ideal), a lot of pepper and a bit of salt.
Put the bacon (we use pancetta though) in a cooking pan with a bit of olive oil and cook for a while.
Boil, in salted water, the pasta 'al dente' (slightly undercoooked) then complete its cooking in the pan, together with the bacon. Eventually:
- Plan A (more cooked egg): Pour the bowl content into the coooking pan still on the flame, mixing, for the time required to cook the egg.
- Plan B (less cooked egg, traditional recipe): Pour the cooking pan content (pasta & bacon) into the bowl and mix
Put, if you like, more cheese on it.
P.S. 'Carbonara' comes from the large amount of pepper required.

I have a similar story with meals. My mother's rule was if you didn't eat it you went hungry.
I think the biggest change for me is that you don't see kids playing outside anymore. When I was young I would disappear for hours at a time, the only real concern being if I didn't turn up for meals. Nowadays parents (including myself) are scared to let their kids play outside, even though I'm sure that the perceived danger isn't as bad as it is. In fact I think that back then it was easier to get in trouble as it was harder to get caught.
