He has reserved a table at the Oktoberfest (Augustiner Festhalle), took care of getting us admitted and two coupons for two 'Maß Wies'n Edelstoff'.
No need to fight with the Australians over a place to sit

If you want to really keep your sit after the 2nd round... I would get a PVC bottle inside. Once you stand up and go to the toilette, no one can guarantee that your sit is still there when you come back.

I worked at a small company that had a paid lunch every two weeks. It was easier for the bosses to pass out paychecks that way.

But I do remember the days of getting an envelope with real cash inside, definitely gave a more rewarding and personalised feeling - after that it was off to the pub.
Also every Friday lunch time it was off to the pub [right across the road] for the weekly meeting - first rule of that meeting: no shop talk, second rule: no going back to the office until Monday ... after all would not be good to be in the office with alcohol breath. (Years on I still can't concentrate on work after midday on a Friday,)

Errr... the entire world deals with time zones and a good portion of the Western world deals with some form of daylight savings.
