I used to be an AMD guy but I stopped buying them after I switch over to Intel. They are comparable processors but Intel drivers and motherboards have been far more stable for me. Not to mention a whole lot easier to work with. And lets not forget to mention NVidia Geforce cards.

I know the processor is still good, i7-3820 quad at 3.6GHz, but I bought a dead-end socket (LGA 2011). If there were replacement motherboards readily available, I would try to RMA the current board. Since there aren't any that I trust for sale, I have to build a whole new rig. It's not like my current rig is obsolete or anything but might as well upgrade while I have the opportunity.

I had to send the first one back since it was DOA so I am glad that I got three years out of the thing with the replacement they sent me.

I highly recommend this beast[^] of a case.

Plenty of room for everything you want to put into a case, including a snack and mini bar.

Probably a good thing. I have one of them too, took twice as long to assemble the case as to build the system that went inside it.

Yeah, it took 3 hours to build.

I don't mind that much at all. The case is considerably larger than my last one and weighs half as much. A consideration I had when picking it out because of the yearly ritual of taking the machines outside and blowing out all the dust in them.

I probably spent double that building it. Due to its size it's the heaviest system I've built. OTOH it's on castors so I almost never have to lift it to move. Just on/off the table when doing the initial build up.

Maybe, after I move into a new house, I'll modify the case with casters and put in on the floor. Right now, it sits on my desk because I have no floor space to put it. Yes, a GIANT machine is taking up a third of my desk.

It's an easy change since you can buy a kit[^] that has brackets with holes that match up with the ones in the case.

With them installed my case is as tall as, and serves as an impromptu extension to, my desk.

Not even close to being true. Looking at the gallery I'm not even sure if you could fit a twin 120 mm radiator in it (top clearance looks rather tight); nevermind the quad 140mm beast I bought my leviathan to hold.

My concern looking at the case is that I'm not sure if there's enough space between the top of the case and the motherboard for a radiator. Even a thin radiator will be about 25mm thick (and thin radiators don't work particularly well), half or twice again that is common. And you still need to mount a fan on in to push air through. A lot of cases don't have room for that; and that one looks marginal at best.

A secondary concern is that AFAIK no one sells 200mm wide radiators; so unless the top is pre-drilled for 120/140mmm fans you'd need to mod it to mount them.

I'd rather put the radiator anywhere else; but that tiny case is cramped enough that the top is the only place that might be able to fit a radiator. And its less the CPU I'm concerned with - you can get quiet and effective tower coolers for them - than the GPU. Compared with the big and slow fans on radiator even the 3x80/92mm fans on an open air GPU (never mind a blower) are obnoxiously loud while gaming.

Umm...That's a mid-tower case. Not even close to the size of the one I got.

My case has a "basement" where the power supply goes, room for a second power supply next to it, and more room for a 420mm radiator.

On top of that is a "midplate" that makes up the floor of the case where the motherboard goes. There's enough room, front to back, to put two full ATX motherboards, with enough room other that to put another 560mm radiator. And that's before you get into the expansion options on top of the case.

I don't have a second motherboard, but I do have a 1.75l bottle of Jack Daniels, a fifth of Captain Morgans, a fifth of Johnny Walker Black, and a smallish bottle of Winter Jack in there.

And my case, thankfully, doesn't look like R2D2.

Just to be clear, this aint the case im using. Because i attend Lan-Partys i quit my BIG BIG BIG Tower times and switched to midi, and this case, thus it is smaller than yours, is classified as a Big-Tower.

I don't do LAN parties any more, since MPCON hasn't has an event in years.

I had a full-size tower I lugged around. To make things easier I cut holes in the roof of the case to put a couple of these[^] handles in.

I still have a few single-threaded games I like to play (e.g. C&C 3) that benefit from the higher core clock. I could overclock the 6 core but I never have been that adventurous with my PC tweaking (overclocking voids the warranty with most chips anyways). I really thought about it since it is currently in some sort of flash sale on newegg for $396 but it was tempting me to buy more RAM. My wallet is NOT bottomless.
