An interesting etymology for "on the fritz:" [^] ... from which I think Marc extrapolated the adjectival present participle form.

...when Google now can't track my browsing habits and has no clue to what ads I always wanted to be shown. I just erased all cookies, in the hope of now being able to refresh CP without getting random settings which I never ever would use voluntarily.
Sometimes I get only 10 posts per page, and then it switches to 25. Or 50. Relaxed or tight layout, thread view or open all? All combinations are possible. And the best one: fixed or fluid layout (set at the bottom center of every page).
Is there no ViewState that remembers my settings? Why do I get seemingly random settings at about every other refresh?
This is probably some kind of discrimination against (un)dead members

I'm not using Google and their adds are almost unavoidable when you are looking for something else. It's amusing to see them desparately trying to find the right ads after their cookies have diaappeared. It was just a joke, since I deleted all cookies in vain. CP still gives me the strangest combinations of settings.
