I'm using the CHtmlEditCtrl class which encapsulates HTML editing function. I would like to be notified when the control gains the focus, so that I could enable some commands.
I've created a devired class, but my new class doesn't get the focus notification!

Here is the declaration of my class:

Have you checked with Spy++ that WM_SETFOCUS is actually being sent to the control?

Spy++ says that the control receive WM_SETFOCUS.

The MSHTML control may be preventing it from being passed on. You could try putting a PreTranslateMessage() into your derived view and/or MainFrm.

Thks for your answer. Even in the PreTranslateMessage, I can't receive the WM_SETFOCUS message! Where is the pb?

Try WM_ACTIVATE. Failing that see what messages you do get when it gets focus. Also try PreTranslateMessage() in you mainframe class.

I will explore the web sites you give me.

When the control gets focus, I see that it receives the 0x0118 message, but I don't have further information about this message. I will use it instead of WM_SETFOCUS.

CFileDialog change directory?

This is for an MDI program (mfc) with visual c++ 6.0

Probably a pretty easy question:

I am using CFileDialog for open/save as file operations. I want to be able to create an instance of the dialog, change the working directory in code at runtime, and then domodal() having the dialog show the directory i specified as the current directory. I'm able to get the directory names i want to use in the format CString (i.e. "c:\project\dbc") and i want to use this path/directory string to change the directory but i can't seem to figure out how to do it.

You need to set the lpstrInitialDir member of the OPENFILENAME member struct (m_ofn) in the CFileDialog class. See the doc for more info.

I am trying to get the text out of an AOL Messenger Chat session. AIM has an Internet Explorer Server, but after I get a handle for it and try to read the text, I come up with an empty string.
Here are the steps that I am doing
I get a reference to a IHTMLDocument2 interface
from that I get a pointer to IHTMLElement interface by calling the get_body function from the IHTMLDocument2 interface.
Then I call the following functions out of desperation on the IHTMLElement Inface

get_innerHTML returns blank
get_innerText return blank
get_outerText return blank
get_outerHTML returns "<BODY><XMP></XMP></BODY>"

I tried the same thing with Yahoo Messenger and it worked perfectly.

Any suggestions

Try the GetDocumentHTML method which returns the entire HTML code.

I just realized that the text window in AIM is Ate32Class.Any ideas on how can I get the text from this window?

GetWindowText() only works if the window is owned by the process calling this function. So that wont work for me but I tried sending the WM_GETTEXT message and that worked.

Hi,

I am working on a project in which has two parts, one is a Windows NT/2K service and other is an Administrative GUI part. I need to communicate between two application, so that the application can access the data of service. I think IPC is used for completion of this task. But I have no idea how to implement this, some beginer or introductory level material will be helpful...

Hello,
I always lose the connection to a client, when I send data and want to receive data again. I don't know why. Frown | :(

1. AcceptEx()
2. ReadFile() <- at this point I received the last data
3. WriteFile() <- I think I lose the connection at this point!
4. ReadFile()
5. WriteFile()
6. ReadFile()

.
.

What am I doing wrong? Wink | ;)

I only develop the server. The client is working well with other servers and it is open source.
