Not entirely sure if account should be closed on this one.

Yes that passage in the article looks (and probably is) copied.
But as far as I can see it's only that passage (unless the rest was copied from somewhere else) and it's not his first article.

Assuming the other articles aren't plagiarized, perhaps a comment on the article pointing this out would be better?

I'm holding off on reporting at this moment, maybe the powers that be can look at this.

Ps: how do you do the @name thingy?

That's a difficult one, because he's been here very much long enough to know that we don't like plagiarism. But ... he's clearly put some effort into trying to make it look like it's original, and frankly the whole article "smells wrong" to me - nothing I can put my finger on, just the language quality chops and changes, sentences break in funny places, missing capital letters, the whole gestalt just smells bad.

And the rule is: Plagiarise and you're out. I don't see we can apply it to "new" members, and not to ones who have more reason to know better?

I get that and it does feel wrong but that could be just because he isn't a native english speaker so copied and pasted some sentences to get the grammar en such correct (although in this case he is from the US so...)

True, I'd even go further and say than new members get more of a "benefit of the doubt" than non new ones.

My hesitance is because this concerns a small part of the article, I can't find anything else that has been copied.
We all get our info somewhere so in a sense we all "copy" things and convert it into better understanding words or such.
So this could just be a part he researched and found "clear" enough it doesn't need rewording of added info or ...
I'm not sure if my meaning comes across correctly (non native english speaker here Smile | :)
