That's already being taken care of - but they have requested of him his bank information so they can transfer his award. I don't know what's keeping him.

Get a better phone.
Mine blocks all calls from withheld numbers, and callers from unknown numbers have to announce themselves and press the "#" key before the phone rings and asks me if I want to accept the call.
I haven't had a single tech support scam call, double glazing sales call, or "we're just conducting a survey, so we can ignore the TPS" call since I got it.
Or, to be more precise: I have had those calls, but none of them have made it through the system to disturb me.

I wish I could - our telephone supplier gives "no number blocking" for free - but the local Doctors surgery always calls in on an withheld number (understandable) and if Herself needs to speak to them about her drugs she is liable to forget how to turn it off.

It does have the option to turn off the withheld number blocking, in which case they have to jump through the same hoops as an unknown number.

1. You answer the phone for unrecognized numbers?
Wait.

Wait.
2. You still have a landline?
Wait.
3. Are you saying you don't have caller ID on a landline? In 2016?
4. Are you saying you still have a landline with no caller ID, in 2016?
Wait.

5. And, you still answer the phone?

Yes - sometimes it's needed (Doctors and so forth, plus my mother's emergency button system called me on withheld numbers so it got to be a habit.
raddevus wrote: You still have a landline?
Yes - for broadband. Plus it's cheaper than mobile calls - at the moment all my calls to mobile or UK numbers are free for the first hour regardless of the time of day.

Oh, yes I do!

Here in the US any unrecognized number is 100% of the time a scammer or pollster -- but I am being redundant.
And 100% of US Americans have cell phones. They are given to us by our gov't.
Radiant heat from wires is the #1 leading cause of global warming so we have outlawed them here.

- The slot machine was not set up to pay out that amount. According to the article, the maximum payout was $6,500.
- Even if the machine records a "session" (i.e. a series of bets) with a single player before paying out, it would require more than 6,000 jackpots in order to reach such a payout!
I would say that the presence of a glitch is proven.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Fully agree, she was going to 'help her son buy a shop' and 'help out the community,'
1. How much money has she fed these machines that instead could have gone to a savings account?
2. How much time sitting on her backside in front of these machines could have been spent helping the community for real - yes money is a good, lots of money even better, but there's a hell of a lot of stuff that communities need done that money cant do - talking to people going through bad times, simple stuff like meals on wheels (yes they will cover your gas) all they need is you to use your your car and mostly your time to help, cleaning up old folks houses/gardens, and so much more.
It's the bullshit that really annoys me, "if I had X I would help" - if they are not already helping without X (in same/other ways) then sure as sh*t if they ever get X they will find another excuse to hold back.

With a $6.5k max payout I'm assuming it was just a penny slot or something similarly low end that the cost of an evenings play would be in the same ballpark as other more mundane forms of entertainment. If you get more fun out of plonking $20 down to watch a bunch of spinning symbols for a few hours than going to see a movie, or from $100 of the same vs attending a sportsball game; whatever.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
