No, because it does not answer my needs satisfiably. But I still use cars with internal combustion engines (1900 technology), firearms with metallic cartridges (1860's), wired phonesets (late 1800?) because they solve the problem they were created for, in a reasonable cost effectiveness.

So do current headphones - they transduct electrical signals to soundwaves in a cheap way with adequate quality and low space occupation. They can fail only in a limited number of ways, are of easy repair and maintenance and have an extremely long usage life. The standard is, well, standard so any stereo 3.5mm jack is suitable for any headphone set with a 3.5mm jack independently from maker and age - with digital protocols that is not the case as they change way too fast (and pointlessly).
