There are a few sites with "funny WiFi names" lists. I quite liked:
"TellMyWifiLoveHer"
"Searching..."
"It hurts when IP"
"Get your own WiFi ***head"

All my surrounding SSIDs are really boring, except Joburg_freeWifi, because it's free. It's slow and limited to 300MB per day, but when my ADSL has a moment, it's good enough to check mail or test the line.

I was never impressed with the Skype UI, even from its early versions. Not very intuitive.
Now that MS owns it, it has gotten worse. Like everything they touch it becomes even harder to figure out.
Just sayin..

I don't think that it's become any harder to figure out; it's just that it seems that ms' mission, since Lil' Bill left, is to obfuscate everything.
Their mission statement appears to be:
0. We shall move commands/controls/etc. around, every five minutes, so that no-one can find anything, even if they google*
1. We shall introduce UI elements that are so obnoxious and obfuscating that users will want to scream at them to let them just get to the god-damned checkbox that was in a really logical place, the last time they needed it.
* For example, if you want to add or hide system tray icons, where do you go?
Well, it depends on which (minor) version of winio you are using, but if you go through enough search results, you'll find a solution that matches your precise version number of winio, and will send you along the correct (lengthy) path to the window you need.
On weven, it's an option when you click the Up arrow on the system tray.

To avoid going insane by this, one trick I use; avoid the UI and instead learn how to type the equivalent CMD line, those tend to stay the same for decades, some examples:
control system
control schedtasks
control desk.cpl
First one shows amount of RAM i.e. Computer Properties
2nd one show scheduled tasks
3rd one is for changing screen resolution
etc etc

Sure, but the point of us inventing the UI was to get away from having to do everything on the command line.
If the only way forward is to go back, then it isn't we who should be reverting to ways that worked a lot better.

It came preinstalled on my laptop. I really find the sound effects to be annoying and so far have been lucky enough not to have to actually participate in a skype call.

I used it a couple of times to commune with my kids however the wife loathes using the video, the son has a low bandwidth connection so the video is grainy and the audio cuts out, it no longer starts with windows

As soon as microsoft bought it, I cleared all of my data from my profile and uninstalled the program.
They would not let you "Close" your account.

I actually like the UWP "preview" version UI ... it serves my needs, though I'm not sure if it works for Skype "power users" ... if this beast even exists
