I just tried it here at work and it's has become noticeably slower and were running on a leased line Internet connection.

Opened my first hotmail account about a week ago. A temporary/throw-away until I could establish a secure connection whilst on vacation.
So far as I could tell, it was not slow. All I sent/received were deliberately vague text containing some info I needed for a VM connection, but a fraction of a second is a fraction of a second.

A few google searches send me to this site named "Quora"
I was curious what it was and went to the root page and.. they started a login process..
At this stage I just wanted to read the site and the mandatory login was very obnoxious...
(and it's a free site, as far as I could see...)
So far it's mandatory login to a site I don't even know to purpose of?!
However, it was (apparently) mitigated by some OAuth mechanism, I could login with Facebook!
Great!
However, click facebook login, oh Quora need its own additional password as well!
WTF? One more password to forget... for something I don't care.... Bunch of $@###@#$!!
Screw you Quora!

Clicking the X on the tab should solve the problem.

Yeah, I did close the site...
But there is no X in the page itself...
I just tried to open Quora in an incognito window, it appears login is mandatory...

Do you have firebug installed in your browser(firefox)?
|
|
|
|
|
nope...
it might be a good thing to have in general!
But not doing much web dev at the moment anyway...
And also am not really interested in wasting time forcing my way into this obnoxious site...

|
Hey - that's exactly how I login to those sites, myself!

That's on my block list.
It's like expert sexchange, where "experts" (anyone with an internet connection) answer questions and then they pollute Google search results with them.
You can see the question but have to log in for the answer (or use firebug, if you're bored)

yeah looks like one of those obnoxious site...

I agree but I hate sites that will not load without javascript enabled more. I am more a "you're not running scripts until I know I can trust your site" kind of web surfer. If your site cannot work without scripts, your site will be passed over.
