I disagree. Music was different, but better or worse is not easy to compare, given the different socio-economic circumstances and the availability of different technology for playing and recording. Not to mention counter-movements to "popular music" in a specific area. But it is nice to look back every now and again

Good music is timeless. Look at Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi. Their recording technology was a piece of paper.

Of course. But how can you measure something timeless, when it hasn't had enough time to be nostalgic yet? Given that nostalgia is remembering only the good stuff from the past. Even if you go to the 50's -that's what 66 years? Against roughly 300 years? That's a biased point of view in my opinion. And a lot of music from the 50's is still remembered now and listened to by younger generations. Current music cannot be timeless, since it's just been made. That just isn't a fair criteria for me.

You do have some songs later then the 50's that are timeless.
Queen's 'The Show Must Go On', for example.
I do have to think harder to get something like that later than the 80's, though.
(Mostly because I am old  )
Anyhow, music very often trigger memories and sometimes you have a good memory associated with the most horrific or ridiculous songs.

An interesting idea, thanks. But, I agree with those of you here who noted that the songs only go back to 1958, and for antiques like me, that ain't far enough.
Also what gives with "schizo-mode:" changing the song playing every fifteen seconds or so. That's very distracting. The site should allow you to click on one of the little pictures that represent the song, and then play that song all the way through.

The problem is, as i've already wrote to Cornelius, the lack of reliable data before 1958. That's the year the Billboard Hot 100 started.

Agreed, but I can imagine it being because of copyrights. If I recall correctly the "Fair use" right is limited to 10% or 30 sec of the song (In the US). I can imagine that they would want to keep far away from any limits just in case.

Hi All,
I have finally manged to remove the hidden E-mail that has been bothering me for weeks, I like a lot (I assume) have my in box set to show date & time of emails rather than sender. This works quite well for me but for the last couple of weeks I have had my in box show 1 unopened item.
Which I couldn't find to open and was thinking this was an issue with the build (I don' use Outlook or any M$ email application) just sat down at my desk and fat fingered to get out of screen saver and got the very top of my inbox an email sent Jan 1st 1970 at 00:01 secs deleted this spam and now have no unopened email! Yayy me!

The other solution is to right click the in box and select "mark all as read".
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...
