I re-read the article once more and found it even more interesting. I'm curious and feel that I have a lot of questions. I don't want to bother you with all of them, though, but a few perhaps:
1) Are you doing all this by yourself?
2) How far have you come? I gather that there is still a lot to do? Are there any features that are ready now (and that I could see if I were to go visit the museum)?
3) Isn't it hard using facial recognition for this? Peoples faces change as they grow older, so recognizing people after a while may prove difficult? Especially with children like you mention, because I believe that your face changes the most when you're young? Also for the soldiers in the old pictures, that might not have been taken at approximately the same time?
I really hope you can pull this off. Personally, I like to visit museums, even the way they are, but I agree that you have to change them to get younger people to see the attraction as well...

The virtual greenscreen prototype is done - so I have the ability to put you into the archive footage. This is a technology that I will keep adding features to - these are ultimately going to end up being museum/display specific, so I have built this as a pluggable pipeline. I also have the facial recognition built for when people arrive at the museum for registering new visitors, and recognising those who are already present. This facial recognition module also runs stand alone to identify where people are in the museum. Yes. That's what we're trying to do - by adding more interactivity, we want to give people incentives to come back to the same museum time and time again.

It is enormous. Right now, I just have to be able to prove the technology - we're looking to build a new DLI Museum, from the ground up, with this technology being put in from the start. There are huge logistical issues that need sorting out but that's why I'm working with Intel on this.

That museum was the catalyst for me looking into this, and would act as the showcase for the technology. The idea is that this can be rolled into other museums as well - through AMOT (the Army Museums Ogilby Trust), we potentially have a way into the National and Imperial War Museums. I also have some contacts that can help with providing access to the science museums.

The reason I asked before was that because I liked the idea where it can say what part of museum I missed or the new addition from last visit.
It would be blessing in disguise, if can be extended to theme parks or even a high end restaurant ( I always forget what I ordered before which was delicious and wanted to reorder)
