Good morning.
The last saturday 23/01/2016, my account OMAR NASRI http://www.codeproject.com/script/Membership/View.aspx?mid=7799248 . has been reported due to plagiarism,
because i forgot to put a references section in my latest articles (that was my mistake because im new in this topic : i start writing articles in november 2015) specially
in introduction chapters before i start the coding part. example :
- Creating a Search Engine using Lucene.NET : introduction,
- windows azure cloud computing : introduction,
as consequence my account has been closed.
it was a mistake to report me. However, I indicated the references of my documentation inside the content of article.
But i have not received any comments or notification from community just a report and ban.
I thought that when i publish my articles, i will receive help from experts , to correct the issues and help me to improve it.
how new authors can improve their skills if they don't receive help from expert ones ? because we are not born with this gift.
Also i repeat the only reason i joined code project is to improve my skills in writing and in computer sciences not to be banned or to be a troll.
Admins please can you help me to activate my account again ? because it will be a big loss for me

Your account was reactivated, but it looks like you had enough new reports that your account was closed again.
On Monday morning Toronto time Sean will review the articles and your account.
I'm sorry but we get a lot of plagiarists, and a lot seem to operate on the "I'll do the right thing only if I'm caught". That's simply not acceptable and we have zero tolerance for those who copy others' work and pass it off as their own.

this mistake due to be a newbie on this topic.
i think it will be better to remove article Creating a Search Engine using Lucene part 1 : introduction .
Because plagiarism comes from introduction chapters when i related to other source to build a documentation.
And i hope the next time, i will receive help from experts authors to improve my skills in writing.
i'm so motivated to continue my story with code project, and share my knowledge on computer science and be one of the active members in code project.

Hi Mr.Chris Maunder.
Why decisions are so hard, this morning i received an email from Sean Ewington. that tell me i have no hope to recover my account.
I think everyone has the right of error.
and the best decison would be just deleting the articles with the most pourcentage of plagiarism, and if the member repeat it again his account will be deleted for ever. (I think no one have a time to do that).
because what I understood from his decision that : when a member sign up in code project, he should be a pro, we have no place for newbie to learn or to make mistakes.
But he dont give me a second chance.
I liked that the decision was more tolerable.
I think, my aventur with code project will stop here with 0 chance to learn.
before leaving, i want tell a suggestion to 'Bugs and Suggestions' team :
- reporting members is not a game. some people need coaching and you are here to help them by leaving a comments even if you do not receive a reply that's your job here.
you have forgotten that the existence of code project website was : listening and helping members with poor capacity in writing and programming to be efficient.

No one is stopping you from creating a new account. Your old account was closed but you aren't physically blocked from CodeProject.

Plagiarism is a huge problem. We gave second chances, and third chances, and in the end we spent an inordinate amount of time trying to reason with people who insisted "it wasn't my fault, this is so unfair, just give me a chance".
I'm sorry, but our decision is final. Feel free to create a new account if you wish, but if you do please re-read the first clause of the Contributors Agreement[^] that you agreed to when posting.

Indeed it isn't, which is a responsibility that the reporters take very seriously. Some people may need coaching but surely they shouldn't need coaching that they should not attempt to claim the work of others as their own. Nope. Don't see your point here. We expect members to read the agreements they sign - when you submitted your article, you checked the box saying you understood the terms and conditions for posting an article. If you didn't bother to read them, then that is YOUR fault, not CPs.
Let's put this a slightly different way. How many articles do you think the moderators review? A reviewer may typically review 30 to 40 articles in moderation, a week. There are several hundred new articles posted daily so different moderators will see different articles. So, we have a situation where we have lots of articles being seen by lots of different people. How do you think we would keep track of people who broke the rules more than once? Who do you think would enforce this? Why should we have to complicate the lives of people who know how to read and understand the rules for the sake of people who are too lazy to look them up? You don't have to be a professional to do that.

What happens now:
1. in my settings I have both allow-private-e-mails and notity-by-e-mail-on-response disabled.
2. I post a message to a forum, like 'Algorithms
3. I enable notification by e-mail of responses to that post
4. the global settings are then changed ... both of them are now enabled
What should happen:
1. changing the privacy settings for one post should not change the global settings

We originally had it as you preferred it to be. However, we had complaints that "settings were not being persisted".

Hi Chris,
I'll vote for "should." To me it is almost axiomatic that a "local" activity should not override a setting made in a facility that governs "global" settings.
I think it's very inconvenient that, if your intent is to allow replies to one specific message, then, after that message is sent, you have go and click your way to your Account/Settings/Forums configuration panel settings to "get back to where you belong."
If there was some great "technical cost" to implementing/allowing "local over-ride," however, then the way things are is, of course, fine, and I will keep on living But, it sounds like you had "local override" before; I am trying to imagine why that would seem "not right" to someone.

Maybe instead of a checkbox either 3 radio buttons or a dropdown list with "don't allow email responses", "allow for this message", "allow for all messages".

If a neuron can store 4.7 bits [^], I am wondering how many neurons it would cost me to remember to reset the setting given the increasing frequency of loss of neurons and garbage collection being orchestrated by my undertakers/telomeres ?
Selective-inattention may explain the reluctance to simply look down and see what the setting is ? Perhaps the steel-visor I wear in my LeadMan suit needed to withstand the radiation while answering QA questions blocks my vision ?
Why do memories of forgetting where I parked my car in a mall, keep returning, as I think about this ?

A workaround would be to post the message with the options un-ticked, then immediately edit the message and tick the options.
Last year, there was an issue where my settings were being regularly reset. I'd always forget to un-tick the "email" options, and I found out the hard way that changing the options when you edit a message doesn't affect your global settings.
