I'm not sure if other countries do this, but in the Netherlands it's customary for employers to give their employees a gift for Christmas, usually in the form of a box with groceries.
My employer gives the employees a big piece of meat, a big piece of fish, an expensive bottle of liquor and two bottles of good wine.
Nice enough, except when you're a vegetarian and don't drink alcohol...
So I got cheeses and juices.
I like the cheeses, but the juices...
They're pure juices. Purest of the pure. They're not all sweet, like you think juices are supposed to be. Some are sour. They're intense. I don't know if I can take any more of these juices.
I'm drinking blackberry juice right now and... Well it's not sweet like the last blackberry juice I drank. It's even worse than the passion fruit juice I had.
Oh my god they're great I need more juices! These aren't drinks, they're experiences! They're like drugs! GIMME MORE JUICES!!!
So much better than alcohol.
And by the way, this is my first *drunk post* EVER! Except it's not alcohol that does the talking, it's the juice.
I'm currently waiting for the pure juice effects to wear off...

..sounds like you had so much sugar that it is overloading your intestines and fermenting in there. Are you sure it is not the alcohol talking?
As for pure fruit-juice goes, I heard it blends well with rum. Especially if you got some coconut and pineapple.

More and more are moving towards gift-vouchers so that employees have the freedom to choose a gift from a website.
I still like the old grocery-box more, including the litter that surrounds the box after opening

A FYI for you: I generally avoid European origin cheeses, especially those of France, as they typically use animal sourced rennin for the curdling step.
I will use microbial or vegetable based rennin cheeses, when specified, or Kosher cheese at any time (since animal rennin would be a no-no).
You ought to try straight Cranberry Juice (if you can get it). A sour orgasmic experience without the worry of STD's.

Yeah, I'm not that kind of vegetarian.
I don't eat fish or meat (for 18 years last Christmas), but that's as far as I go.
I'm not even sure if I could get vegetarian cheese where I live, even the veggie burgers are sparse...
It's kind of like leather shoes are made of dead animal, but I still wear them.
I care about animal well being, but I care about not making life too difficult as well

Interesting gifts in the Netherlands. In Ohio, U.S., in my department of 40, I received about 4 Christmas cards, a calendar, an electric candle, and a homemade tree ornament. Out of my group of 9, I received nothing, nothing from my manager, nothing from her manager, and nothing from the rest of the group. I did not hear a Merry Christmas from anyone in my group and maybe 1 or 2 the entire week, but hey, it was dress down all week!
Things were different in the private sector. In the private sector I might receive a gift card or bottle of alcohol.
