About the only thing they haven't tried to ban is breathing - and I'm fairly sure that the air in London, Beijing, and loads of other cities is probably more toxic than BACON.

The article admits: A ban on all red and processed meats, would mean just 8,800 fewer [cancer] cases [in the UK].
So why does everyone care so much? Even the best possible improvement is irrelevant. We have already wasted more of the world wide GDP just discussing this than we could ever regain by preventing the deaths of some assets.
On a personal level, the risk is already so low that just commuting to work today obliterated any risk-prevention you could do by cutting meat.
