Not only is religion brought into a topic that has nothing to do with it, but it also contains an implied insult against a competing one.
While I wont vote abuse, since I feel that is a little too strong, a down-vote to PIEBALDconsult would certainly have been sent with my regards if they were still available.
I'm interested in re-aligning my views if they go against the group consensus, so I'll ask you - why do you think the comment was acceptable?

Exactly. Improper use of something (the lounge, in this case) constitutes one of the definitions of abuse.
You've actually used the same definition of the word yourself. I.e, improper/inappropriate use.

Yeah, I figured it was likely intended as a light-hearted quip too - that was what coloured my response and the intentional and considered use of the term of endearment 'old chap'. It was also why I declined to flag it in the first place.
I'm increasing of the opinion that my views are miss-aligned with those of others here. My decision to reply to any responses has probably given the topic more air than it deserves and prolonged it. I'm going to decline to respond publicly any further until tomorrow, if at all.

I think so, yes. A word starting with 'a' in your post seems to have lost it's grip on the letter 'd' - perhaps it's just not sticky enough. No seriously though - it's perfectly normal and the done thing to use euphemisms around here. We all know that elephant doesn't necessarily mean a four legged animal and that sunshine isn't always radiated from the sky. Except for the uninitiated, saying "elephant you sunshine" is perfectly understood to mean something very different than the dictionary would suggest.
I really am of the opinion that what you've now done with the post is no different. Given the fact we dont have swearing wars, but do have wars of a certain other kind - I reckon this topic is even more important to be careful with. At best you'll get some idiot like me that wont let something basically harmless go without making a song and a dance about it. At worst, you might lose your head - in some parts of the world at least.
One could argue that it's just a word, but so is f*** and c*** and to some, these are a perfectly normal and acceptable part of everyday conversation.
So, call me a kill-joy, an idiot, moron or a sunshine if it floats your boat. But I remain firmly of the opinion that the words you've chosen not only make it better, but cleverer too.
A far better comedian makes the audience think the swear word, rather than actually saying it.
