One is common to 7 and 8/8.1: KB3035586. The other is specific to either, but I don't recall the KB number.
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

I thought it was KB 3035583?...it installed that irritating icon in the system tray?
I'm also going to wait and see and recommend to people I advise on computer stuff to wait for a while and see what all bad stuff comes of it...it seems every day there's some new revelation.

Yes, that's the correct KB, I was going by memory.

Okay, good...was wondering if there was a second one lurking out there
...I almost don't want to install updates anymore for fear of what evil might infect my computer.

Have you tried re-installing Weven?

Oh hell no.

LOL. I wasn't completely serious.
Have you tried stopping the Windows Update service and then deleting the contents of this directory:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
You may need to reset some Windows Update properties after doing the deletion.

No, but I'll try it and see what happens. And if I end up having to reinstall Windows, I'm going to blame you. LOL

I got patch tuesday updates on my W7Enterprise (work) and W7 Pro (home) machines this month. The latter has the Wen icon lurking in the tray. My nominal plan is to Wen my on the road laptop soon, and if that goes well do the same with my main box a month or two later.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

So, it's not true for you. But it's certainly true for me, and a host of other people with identical complaints across the web. Kind of a Schrodinger's Cat.

Sorry, I mean it doesn't apply to Win 7 Enterprise.

A site that I inherited the maintenance of uses Ubuntu/Apache/Passenger and it's experiencing issues with "Heavy Load", which supposedly the latest version of Passenger fixed, but doesn't.
Since I have no idea about Apache/Passenger, and really don't want to learn, I need to contract out to some shop for assistance.
Anyone have any recommendations? I realize I'm asking here on CP, but you guys are my first line of defense whenever I am in need of help!
And no, I'm not looking for "did you try this in Passenger's config" advice, unless you know exactly what the issue is. There's budget to hire a high priced (and hopefully expert) person/group.

It was inherited. The code is horrific, which, while easy to do in any language, is particularly easy to do in duck type languages (should be called "duct-type", as in, McGyver.)
I was hoping that if I just bewailed loud enough about the project that the client would throw me $100,000 to rewrite it. But no luck so far.

A new Google project[^] for determining the benefits and/or feasibility of using solar power at your residence/building.
This Wired article[^] goes into some details about what/how/why.
It looks like a cool idea. It's only live for the San Francisco and Boston areas right now, so if you don't live in one of those places, you are SOL for the time being. I put in some random San Fran addresses just to see how it works, and it seems pretty slick.
