A seemingly nice city I'll stay at in late October until early november.
Why? Never been more eastern than Südtirol[^], and a friend of mine is touring through hrvatska and the other formerly jugoslavian area.
Combined with my overtime/vacation overflow I'm facing, this gives a nice one to two week vaca in Pécs.
Anybody been in that area, knows bars and places one needs to see?
I summon the tired and emotional[^] mighty @Nagy-Vilmos

I blame it on the Google. My friend misspelled it in his message, and while I typed it into Google I overlooked the correct spelling.

If no, then maybe I'll skip 'em.

I went to high school there, so I know it fairly well . Places I would recommend to see are the 'Dzsámi' (it's basically at the centre of the city), the cathedral close to it, the TV tower for the view. For a longer list I suggest you look around here for stuff you might find interesting: "http://www.iranypecs.hu/en/info/attractions/index.html[^]"
Don't really know about bars anymore, but used to know a lot back then .
Also as a side-note (provided you don't already know) this region of Hungary has a lot of German speakers (I myself attended a German-Hungarian nationality high school), and though I haven't been there recently to know is maybe that changed, I would recommend you prefer German over English when first talking to people.

Thanks
I'm fluent at both english and german, what I think is funny is that in other countries (France, Italy and Sweden) I had the experience of getting a disgusted look from the people when approaching them speaking german, but nice to there are apparently countries thinking different.

Marco Bertschi wrote: countries thinking different Honestly I wouldn't really say this, as said it's more because of historical reasons for that region, you can read about it here if you're interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danube_Swabians[^]
