And it is a great film indeed.
I've enjoyed it a lot, now I'm regretting not seeing it at the cinema and I can't understand how come it has only one Oscar...

I haven't seen the movie - but intend to do so soon.
I mean given that it's Nolan and add to that the casting and Hans Zimmer, I think it has a lot of potential.
How would you compare Interstellar to previous Nolan movies?

Saw it a couple of weeks ago - it's not bad. A little predictable in places, but some good acting and for once the special effects were used to enhance the plot and acting instead of replace them!

Well that's very good, I like plot that doesn't reside solely on effects 
I've noticed it's also very long(as is the habit these days), is it long for a reason or have they stretched it out like for example they did with The Hobbit trilogy and the Hunger Games "trilogy" ?

It's long because it's telling a story, rather than being the very short story which most movies seem to be based on - or worse condensed into, losing most of the stuff which made it a good book in the first place (see "Enders Game" - great book, thin and weak as a movie)
Interstellar is kinda slow to get started - but it's relevant stuff for later, so it does work by the end of the film.

I don't mind slow starts, as long as it's connected or even if not completely relevant, that it's well done. Gone girl had a bit of a similar structure - I almost fell asleep for the first half hour, but what was presented was still relevant to the movie's conclusion.
The Hobbit(last one) had a hit/miss in this department. A lot of things were referenced in the final movie and the Angmar bit was awesome. But the Tauriel - "It hurts because it's real" and Legolas - "Your mother loved you and go find that strider guy" was just too much. I get what they were doing, but it felt too forced.

So was the last Harry Potter - and it should probably have been three or four parts (and several of the others should have been two parters). Sometimes a story is too big to comfortably fit as a single movie: you either have to leave out so much you lose the story (Enders Game) or you lose the audience because they have to take comfort breaks, eat, or even get some sleep and come back the next day!
While that works in a DVD setting, it just doesn't work at a cinema - one guy taking a comfort break disrupts the movie for dozens of others.

I haven't read Harry Potter(yet  ) so I can't say, but I agree that sometimes it has to be done.
I believe that Jackson has proven when it should and shouldn't be done.
LOTR - should definetly have more parts for one movie(after all there are 6 books).
While The Hobbit should be vice versa.
Haven't seen or read Enders Game so I will look into it.
I am not saying it's a bad thing, the "trilogy" part when I mentioned Hunger Games was meant as a bit of a joke. I was just referencing how it's popular to split movies in parts and sometimes it's good, while sometimes it's bad to do so.

Um...three! "The Fellowship of the Ring", "The Two Towers", and "The Return of the King" - they are a sequel to "The Hobbit" sharing the same world, but covering it from (largely) different characters and very different adventures.
If you haven't read Enders Game (or it's sequels which are also excellent) I can't recommend them highly enough. Brilliantly written by a master of the wordsmiths art - Orson Scott Card[^]

I just watched yesterday as well. Thought it was pretty good overall. The scene where he is going into the black hole reminded me a bit of the similar passage in 2001: A Space Odyssey...

Yes, probably the physics involved are not real, but the story itself is good, the actors make a good job... a nice film for me... 
But of course if you don't like the film... almost 3 hours of suffering are enough for at least hating it
