Would it be too much to ask for an alternative to ` ? It's a PITA on my (german) keyboard layout..

|
|
|
|
Yeah - easy. What would you like?

In order of preference: # ~ °

|
|
|

They're just as bad for me with my Swedish keyboard. I'd prefer ´ or ¨
|
|
|
|
|
What about ' or _ ?
|
|
|
|
|
' is a quote, _ is emphasis, ? is too commonly used.

´ might actually work.

Wouldn't be optimal but better than backticks. If you like it best from the mentioned options, go for it
Is there a doc for the other formatting options you mentioned?

Done. And yes[^].

# is for tables, ~ is for strike through in some dialects, and ° - well, I can't even type that on my keyboard! (So hey - why not?)
I'll add °° as the code delimiter for code.

The back-tick code-block option doesn't seem to work in the message preview:
EDIT: Or the message, for that matter. What am I doing wrong?
EDIT 2: Never mind. RTFM![^]
Combining the two doesn't work too well, though:
Code block?

Threw me off first too - you have to close the code block with another three backticks

using ANamespace;
class AClass
{
}
Just a test. It works.

Does it also work with tables?
| Header left | Header centre | Header Right |

| Left content| Centre content | Right content |
<edit> Apparently not </edit>

No tables unfortunately.

Pity, sometimes in the SQL forum it would be quite useful when drawing tables.

You're going to have to go old school and use HTML.
I'll see if I can shoehorn in an implementation of tables. They are a GitHub extension not supported by the "official" (whatever that means) version of Markdown.

Does old and new style markup look the same?
public void NewStyleIndent()
{
}
public void OldStyle()
{
}
public void NewStyleTicks()
{
}
What about NewStyleInline() and OldStyleInline()
... OK, why is a vertical line being shown above code when I view other messages; but not in the edit window; or in the copy of the message I'm replying to here?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
