I apparently have opacities in both eyes, possibly linked to cataracts, but have had them for some twenty years with no effect at all on my vision. My optometrists are always much more concerned than me, until I get paranoid. Then I start asking if they can possibly be linked to a terror trip I had one day after inhaling solvents as a youth. In said trip, I experienced being restrained on a 'surgical' table, while spiral needles approached and penetrated my eyes.

Hi Brady, I suspect that with 881 moons on this body I have a few lunations on you, and my right eye is getting to the place where it's more than 50% compromised.
How wonderful that the lens replacement (surgery) is so successful for a very high percentage of the vast numbers of people who have it every year !

And the improvement is very quick as well!
An elderly neighbour had her cataracts done a couple of years ago, and could see better almost immediately. Only hassle was the eye drops to keep them clean and infection free for a couple of weeks - her hands shook so much she couldn't do them herself for fear of poking her own eye out.

My wife went there and she is ultra-happy with it... no more glasses and eagle vision which is a problem as I can't hide when needed

I had my eyes done (one by one) in 1993 (L -6.9 R -7.2) and I still remember the first day's that both eyes were completely healed and I could look for miles and have a clear vision for the long and short range. It was a fantastic experience and a big relieve because I hated having to wear glasses and lenses so much.
Now more then 20 years later my vision is still good and I only need reading glasses for the really small letters on packages but that's I think normal due to age (49).

I did laser aprox. 8 years ago... to be honest, the best money I have invested besides buying my own house.
It was a bit odd the day of the OP, but everything went smooth and following day when I got up after having a bit difficulties to open the eyes the very first time, I could perfectly see. I even won sight, from 75% to 110%, the doctor flipped out 
Take it easy, relax and don't worry.
One advice: Don't drive at night during tow or three weeeks, nobody is going to prohibite it to you, but possible collateral "issues" are higher sensibility to light and / or focusing problems during night. I got it and needed around 3 weeks to feel confortable at night. You might not have anything, but check it first. It can be dangerous whilst driving.

Two days gone and it's worked great, can see properly after about 22 years of glasses/lenses
Was surprised that the op was quick and easy (was expecting much worse after reading various horror stories on the interweb).

Well this is suppose to be the year I find the answer to life, the universe and everything.........
Time will tell!
I think I will stay inside today, it is chilly, windy and wet out there. Looking across the helideck via the CCTV it doesn't look very pleasant, and the forecast isn't too great for the day.

Yup there are definite benefits to living in Singapore, it got down to 25 overnight, decidedly cool. The pool this morning was almost chilly. As I sit here I here Mother calling (bloody great thunderstorm brewing) so I will also be staying inside for the time being.
