I vote we all move back to BASIC... And not that newfangled Visual Basic, or even that sorta-newfangled QBasic... I'm talking BASIC, with line numbers... Atari BASIC, GW BASIC, IBM BASIC... Whichever one you want, but it has to have line numbers and GOTO.
I'm going to be the first geek to write an Android app in Atari BASIC!

I don't actually have a working version of BASIC, but I think I still have a piece of the keyboard from my old Atari 800XL...
I mean, if a four-year-old could learn BASIC on that thing, I think these (presumably older) people in Q&A can do it too.

Not having seen the word before I googled progess. It seems to be in common use although the meaning is obscure.

That's a good point. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of experience (aka skill) to make good choices. That doesn't mean the choices are bad, it's more that I keep witnessing people making choices without careful consideration. I was recently sitting in on a group of young programmers who had a really neat idea and they all jumped on the "let's use a NoSQL database!" idea without any consideration for the implications of their decision. They hadn't even fully fleshed out the concept, and they were choosing an implementation strategy! Argh.

Hi looking for a solution where I have a php page, export.php, that has a form where a user can click, which opens exportdo.php, exportdo.php opens and runs the csv export and the file downloads. What I am looking for is how to refresh export.php, after the CSV file downloads, so I can post an export success message to the user.

I was googling how to do something in WPF (what it was is not important), and I stumbled across a bug reported in 2011. This was Microsoft's resolution:
"The WPF team has recently reviewed this issue and will not be addressing this issue as at this time the team is focusing on the bugs impacting the highest number of WPF developers. If you believe that this was resolved in error, please reactivate this bug with any necessary supporting details."
Ya know what, Microsoft, if even ONE developer is having a problem writing code because you screwed the f*ckin pooch, that should damn well be enough reason to have the problem fixed. I would almost expect this response from a 3rd party tool manufacturer, but on the actual framework!?! What a bunch-o-no-talent-'tards, ESPECIALLY when you recommended to everyone that they drop Winforms in favor of WTF WPF...

They show the door to some 20K employee, so they lack the sufficient developer-hours to fix each and every bug...
In fact - with all the products MS has - they accept bug reports on 19 only!
And of course the "focusing on the bugs impacting the highest number of ... developers" is fake! There is an SQL bug reported in 2008 and has the largest numbers of votes, but still not resolved!!!
