I've never heard of either Larry or Brad, but they sound more like characters in the kind of DVD I'd never rent than authors/book reviewers.

I haven't read anything of Brad's; but Larry's Monster Hunter International and Grimnoir series are among my favorite fantasy series from the last few years.

I remember that, but it was a different kind of work. Today I can go home I internet fails in office...
(However I remember that connection was everything back than too. I used to 'record' programs for C64 via radio programs, and if there was disturbance in the radio waves I got bugs...)

Nah. They're free everyday.
For the last ~15 years, the Baen Free Library[^] has offered a number of free ebooks; generally the 1st few in a series. It was temporarily squeezed down in size when Baen was first made available on Amazon due to the latter insisting on MFN pricing and putting anything in the free library at zero as a result. The workaround Baen came up with has been second edition books (generally either a new forward or afterward) and then the old version is permanently free on both their site and Amazon (and presumably B&N, etc but I'm not sure). OBS might only have a free ebook edition at the moment (I thought a 2nd ed was out, and would've expected it to go with the leather bound limited edition if nothing else, but can't find it); but the revised HOTQ[^] is out and for sale every day.

It's a trap! Don't fall for it! They give you a couple of free books, and then you wind up having to get additional bookshelves to fit all the ones you subsequently buy.
(Currently cataloging my "library". Can't blame Baen for the majority of them. Only the last few dozen...hardcovers...of the 3000+ books is their fault.)

Baen seem to have gone down the path of fantasy recently, finding a good, hard sci fi book there is becoming a challenge. Even found myself reading a vampire book until I came to my senses!
