My bank always get me to try and do the same thing, with the same piece of crapware, every time I log in - I have so far succeeded at cancelling the software. Having said that I did install it once and 30 minutes later removed it after it screwed with most things on my machine.
I know many non IT savvy people have their machines riddled with malware of one type or another, but it is rather annoying to have to cancel the dialog box and click on the login button each time I want to see my balance.

It's very UK centric - OK, there is a Samuel Clements in there, but only the one I could see.
A US "classic books" list probably wouldn't mean a lot to UK readers either.

It wouldn't make any difference I don't read a lot of popular stuff, I read a lot of tech books and more stuff like Lewis and Clarks Journal was the lastest non-tech.

And then there's those of us who don't give an elephant about any "classic books" list and just read whatever catches our attention. Because life's too short to care about what other people think you should read.
What is this talk of release? I do not release software. My software escapes leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in its wake.

I've read one book from that list, The Lord of the Rings. Which is actually 3 books, but apparently that doesn't matter.
I've read plenty of programming books from cover to cover at 1200-1500 pages each. But novels? I simply don't have enough time to sit down and read them. What does he do for a living?

No Lord Of The Rings is one book. That's how it was written and how it was intended to be read. Tolkien was forced into the rather artificial dividing of the work by his publisher and he was never happy with it. Most modern editions reunite the three parts in a single volume in any event.

OMG the Trial.... Franz Kafka... horrific book, reason why i wrote my final secondary-school examination in english and not german.
