I'm installing the Tom Tom software on my laptop as I'll have to do map swaps in Hungary. Just started running and the first screen says "Preparing InstallShield..."
You need know nothing more about Tom Tom.

I have a Tom Tom live, which gives you a year of traffic updates before trying to get you to shell out £8/month to keep the service going. Bloody nerve.
But, unbeknown to me when I bought my Nokia phone, it actually has better navigation software, with traffic updates all built in. I think Nokia bought Tom Tom or something, maybe.
Anyway, Tom Tom now lives in shame in the glovebox. I just need to find a way of securing my phone. The Toyota Yaris seems to be designed such that if you put anything anywhere, it falls on the floor.

Actually my Android phone seems to have maps with traffic just as good as, or better than, my Tom Tom, so the Tom Tom is also in disuse.
As far as securing the phone when driving, I found a little thingy that attaches to the windscreen glass with a suction cup that works quite nicely. I bought it at Fry's for US$ 10, more or less. I just leave it in the car and slap my cellphone in place when I need to use the navigation maps.
Sort of like this[^], but with a longer, flexible extension and less cost.

Especially since if their UK pricing is similar to in the US an extra £8 up front would probably have gotten you lifetime maps.

Amazon[^] claims it did as an option for 2012 and 2013 models. Adding lifetime maps to the search term inexplicably fails to turn up this year's models, but searching for them by name[^] it appears that it's become a standard feature and the marginally cheaper suckers version no longer exists...

I think I can agree with both of those.
I received a new development machine a while back, and I've already neutered a couple parts of the McAfee crap because of its unwillingness to ... attend to my requests not to f*** with me.

Yeah. Unusable client software maybe annoying, but bad low level services really kill a machine. I have McAfee forced on me at the moment by my client and it turns what is a fairly decently specced machine into a 1990s style brick.

I hated working with InstallShield, I always assumed it was because I was working with an outdated copy, but it sounds like it didn't have too many fans huh?
