While going to some place do you ever select longest route?

Nitin Sawant wrote: While going to some place do you ever select longest route? Oh that depends. There are many factors which I usually consider when choosing a route. While the distance usually has the biggest impact on that choice there are also many others to consider. Like: How fast can I travel on that route, am I travalling by car, foot, train, etc? If so which one is more/less appropriate for the means I'm travelling with etc., what are the costs needed? You may cross a lake with a ferry or drive around for less money. I guess you get my idea
But tell me then: How is middle clicking longer than left clicking? it's just another button on my mouse The functionality of opening things in the same or a new tab/window is already in basically every browser so there shouldn't be any need of opening things in a new tab. Oh, and by using another mouse button I'm in control of what's happening too. Why would you want to take that choice away from the user? If it was opening in a new tab by default I wouldn't have that choice anymore...
Just because it might be more convenient for you doesn't mean it has to be for every other person out there. I for one (and probably many others) like it better the way it is, and it doesn't take me any effort to open it in a new tab if I'd wish to do so.

I thought it would be nice to have notifications while using mobile layout. But after checking HTML of a page, I noticed that the span tag for them is already being rendered but the corresponding anchor tag has a "display:none" attribute.
Is it intentional or a bug?
Whether I think I can, or think I can't, I am always bloody right!

I don't know why? Its in GIT and hence regional language doesn't matter. Further, i can understand that post and there is nothing Abusive at all [Indian movie names modified with Farcebook terms].
As we all know, once reported in SA watch, account mentioned as offender gets vanished in few hours. And i am sure it can be the case with this one. Chris, will you please remove votes from it if possible?

In "How to use this forum" Chris clearly mentioned that "The purpose of the forum is to allow new Indian members to get a feel for how the site works, be guided by others, and eventually graduate to the main programming and discussion forums."
I do not find any thing in that message that helps in graduating towards programming and discussion forums.Had codeproject be a joke publishing site, this message would be an award winning one.
I can remove that SA report if the forum is made for posting jokes.
Thanks

Don't you find millions of threads talking about Cricket,Footaball, different Leagues over there? Do you mean all of them should be reported? If so,i think you should go through GIT on regular basis.
I am still not clear why you considered it as spam.

I already explained that Spam=Advertising. I think its convincing enough.

The GIT forum is yours. Reply to the message, discuss the message, report the message - it's up to you.
If it gets closed and you want it reopened I can do that, but your best bet is to discuss this in GIT, not here.

My Concern was to prevent user from being reported without any offence. I was not able to discuss it in GIT just because there is not a single post from Akhil.

This question was closed as 'Unclear or Incomplete', yesterday. However today someone upvoted my answer (from before it was closed). The funny thing that I can't even see my own answer...

Strange. It shows at my end that it was closed on 14th July. It is 16th Now. How can it be upvoted?
I am curious to know how someone found it..

My question is why did you two mark the question as Not a Question and Spam when it is obviously a valid, although beginner level, question and definitely not Spam?

There is something wrong here... I did not marked it as no-question or spam. I did downvoted it as a poorly phrased question that need improvements, and if I remember will that downvoting should vanish after OP improved the question.

I just voted a 3 on this article[^] but it counted as a 5. I noticed other people who have voted the article a non-5, yet the count is all 5's!
Hmmm...Maybe I should take advantage of this bug while it lasts.

Your vote of 3 was counted. Our system then look ed it, sniffed it, wrinkled its nose and put it aside for later.
What actually happens is we look at all the votes that are tallied and calculate the mean and standard deviation. If a vote falls out a certain number of sigmas then it won't be included in the final score. However, if others then vote and those votes move the mean so that your vote pops back into range then it's then counted in the final tally.
This was done to alleviate malicious voters messing around with ratings. It's not perfect (I'm still yet to be convinced that's even possible) but it's adaptive.

An interesting algorithm! Thanks for the explanation.

I recently changed my nick. However, all my old posts / comments still have my old nickname. I want it to be changed too, but even in edit mode I can't select my new nick in the "Post As" section. I also can't delete them as they are too old.

This is by design.
The author's name at the time of posting is stored in the message to speed up processing, to keep history from changing, and to allow us to delete accounts and still have a name associated with a message.
If they click on the name, it will still go to the correct profile.

Can I change it? Maybe by editing it, so it gets updated in my posts.

I always thought it was to facilitate joke posts in the lounge where people pretend to be the cow-orker another member just ranted about.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

A CodeProject group has applied to join the group I created and manage.
My question is this: After accepting the membership request, will all 149 members of that group be able to view our private message board or only the manager of that group?
