On a whim I googled "Magneto Marc Clifton" and the third link was what I was looking for.

Sadly this does not run on W7! It was written (I think, it's been a while) in Borland C++ using Wing32. Would be fun to resurrect it though!

It's running on my Win7 machine, although I don't know if it is working properly.
There is a slowly moving thing that flashes red or green if I click the right or left mouse button anywhere, and that is about it.

The left and right buttons control the "polarity". Hold the desired button down, and you will be slowly attracted or repelled based on the other "poles" around you.
If you hold both buttons down, you will be "recharged" based on your velocity and proximity to a poll, but this also creates drag (a useful technique for slowing down.)
The idea is to maneuver your "pole" into the vortexy thing, which will advance you to the next level.
In STNG, there was this game that everyone got addicted to except Data, I think. A very similar concept (but mine was first, haha!)

Awesome! Eventually you get to a level where the other poles are also moving, and in the last few levels, the target is moving too. Gets more challenging that way.

The original Norton Utilities were manna from Heaven! I couldn't count as high as the number of seconds' work they saved me (except in binary).
It wasn't until he gave up control of the company that it all turned to sh1t.
