I looked into it and read a lot about it last fall...
You still need to know how the platforms works, you still need to know how to make the different userinterfaces for android and IOS, and you need a mac in order to develop and debug IOS apps.
I read about a lot of problems with debugging IOS apps, from the Xamarin IDE.
I went with ADK (Eclipse) and Xcode and have never looked back. Objective-C kan be a bitch to learn, but once you get the hang of it, it's an okay language. Java is quite easy when you are used to C#.

A week ago or less there was a link on here about a doctor's diagnosis of Bruce Willis's character in Die Hard. They should do one on a new Star Trek movie. I've only seen the first, and I remember being put off by the continual over-the-top dynamics. (Now to upvote Mark's comment - I agree wholeheartedly!)

The one where they sky-dived onto that little platform? If so, I was hoping they'd bounce. High and far. I'm no longer impressed by such effects where they stretch the bounds of reality so far. I'll watch movies like "History of Violence" instead. Or "Shoot 'Em Up". If it is going to be so far over the top at least I can be laughing
