There are of course only only several possibilities based on that statement.
- They are lying or ignorant.
- There is no way for you to do it. When I say "no way" I mean just that.

Might note as well that if it is the first case and you figured out how to do it yourself and then did it are you secure enough in your organization that you wouldn't get reprimanded or even fired?

Another approach might be to approach someone who job is specifically directed towards security and you might mention to them that this arrangement means that there is no way to insure that a login assigned to you is being used by you. As such any security audit either driven internally or even by external sources might reveal this to the determent of the company. Again though this depends on your position and the company since, for example, if the IT manager is also the security manager he might be less than thrilled to get this information.
