What can the client or colleague say to insult you(r work) (without sounding insulting)?
There are two sentences I find insulting:
1. Client or boss says: "I think it will be a small change".
2. "Why didn't you do it that way ?"

I can insult our Requirement Guy by just happily laughing in the morning.
Insult is probably the wrong word, it just pisses him off.
Understandably, the project is a mess, and he has to clear most of the mess.

I discovered one for bosses that works well: "You would think so, wouldn't you?". Combined with "That turns out not to be the case" it sounds authoritative without sounding insulting.
It's a polite way of saying "that's a really stupid idea" that sounds like "you missed a tiny detail"

I have one, that has been gnawing at me for maybe 20 years.
Once back in college, we were solving some problems in a Physics class. I had a bit of trouble getting started on one of the problems, but figured out a way to solve it. The professor was walking around the classroom, picked up and looked over my paper. Then he looked at me and asked "Did you come up with this all by yourself?"
He never told me if it was brilliant or brain dead. I have actually gotten the same thing once or twice since then and to this day I am not certain if I should consider it an insult or a praise (although I am leaning towards it being an insult).

I remember solving an equation in a different manner to the manner my maths teacher was teaching us.
He was amazed I got the correct answer and tried my method with different inputs and got the correct answer each time.
Like your experience he was unable to say 'well done', however I guess my vengeance was in his utter confusion at why my method worked.
This was the same maths teacher who had me down as a dunce and when I got top marks in my public exam he said 'I always knew you would get top marks!'.

I am the only one that thinks the C# intellisense is terrible? I remember back when I did VB.NET and intellisence was great. Visual Studio needs to step up and get this crap fixed. I had red "underlines" everywhere in my C# project and couldn't figure out why. I recompiled the code, they all went away and everything was good. So in order to get rid of
errors you have to compile? I love C# but the intellisence and errors it detects pisses me off

It may have something to do with DLLs you would have referenced in your code.

Happens to me all the time. I don't think it has anything to do with the language (though, I can't be certain of that). More likely, it's the specific version of Visual Studio and/or the project you are working with.
