Maybe it shows the top 5 tags based on popularity. If so, you'd need a fairly long list to get C++ to show up.

I can get around this with the filter but the funny thing is I can set my filter to ignore VB.NET and ASP.NET but they still appear in the menu.

Today SoMad[^] mentioned me in a discussion. I got an email for that, but that email is not sent from the CodeProject forums email address, but from the email address of SoMad. For privacy reasons, I don't think it's a good idea to send messages from the email address of the one that mentioned you.
What do you think?

What do you mean you got an email because he mentioned you?
There is a link labeled "Email" if you have that option turned on. If someone clicks Email at the bottom of one of your messages it does send an email to you with their email address as the sender. That is intentional. I don't know if it prompts you to let you know your email will be revealed but if not, it should prompt.

I wondered a bit about that feature too as I got a reply over e-mail instead of a forum reply message.
I think it's nice if you get notified about beeing mentionend in a post but it shouldn't disclose the e-mail address without a warning about it.
I'd have a suggestion for that:
Send those emails with <memberid>@codeproject.com and if someone replies to that forward that e-mail to the users e-mail with that member id. Shouldn't be very difficult to implement. (Maybe you'd need to check first if there was an e-mail sent before to prevent random spam mails, but I suppose that wouldn't be that difficult too) This way you could safely contact members by e-mail without giving away the e-mail address without the users knowledge

Or just use the same approach as the regular forum notifications: send from an unmonitored @codeprojectcom mailbox that dumps any inbound messages, and provide a link to the message where you were mentioned so you can reply.

I agree. It should also be possible to disable the emails on the "Newsletters and Emails" or "Forums" tab under "My Settings".

Yeah, that would be a possible solution too. But I'm targeting the direct "E-Mail" feature too. You can't control that it is sent from your personal e-mail address (you see it if you look closely but it's easy to miss)

I would still like to see this change implemented because the notification feature is awesome! Look how I just used it[^] to call on the input from a member with proven experience in a particular area.

I wanted to download a project. I typed in the wrong email when asked to register. I got the message that a confirmation email would be sent. I realized what I'd done and tried to get back and fix my error but I was able to download the code anyway.

I've recently updated my article and it was accepted by Deeksha Shenoy who has no e-mail address to reply to.
There's also an updated download file for that article but I don't understand the update form at all. It shows stuff that isn't in the article and it shows things that are in the article differently. I'm not sure how to operate this. So I wanted Deeksha Shenoy to update that file for me but my e-mail to the "unattended email box" probably wasn't noticed.
Can somebody please either fix that update form, explain it to me, or tell me an e-mail address where I can send the file to?
