What I hate is that is the worst SQL you've ever seen.

LOL - I'm not claiming that I've not seen other SQL that was close to as bad, but this was pretty grim. He never got back to me, either.

Global Warming scientists stuck in Antarctica because of thicker than expected ice!

There is no such thing as a 'global warming scientist'. The story does not even say they are climate scientists.

Well, the expedition's purpose is:
Quote: The goal of the modern day Australasian Antarctic Expedition is to repeat many of the original measurements and studies of the Mawson expedition to see how facets of the environment have changed over the past century. So, it does seem a touch ironic. Proof of nothing though (save the weather in the Antarctic is unpredictable), especially not proof of the denier message.
Looking at the "science leaders" of the expedition, it seems they have quite a wide range[^] of studies: invertebrates to tree rings, ornithology to climate modelling. Too bad they couldn't complete the mission (this time anyway, I'm hoping they'll try again).

Well, it's still a long bow to draw from that statement to 'global warming scientists', especially given that, as you say, there's a wide range of disciplines represented.

Well, you can invent any title you like, but I can't call myself a squizbotnic programmer and expect it to mean something to other programmers, for example.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any.
The contents of the child are dependent on the value chosen in the parent, so if the choice of the child changed the choice (or worse changed the values) of the parent, then that could change the values available in the child, which could cause a change in the parent... A touch recursive...

The only reason I can think of where the reverse control may be an option is where the child menu wants to 'go back' or 'remove filter' etc.
e.g.
parent options = {BMW, Mercedes, All}
child options = {[318,320,540,M3,M5,Remove Filter],[220,C63, SLS,Remove Filter]}
Selecting Remove Filter in the child options, might select the 'All' in the parent.
Just off the top of my head, probably would never actually want to do that, but that's what jumped out of the grey matter....

It would per definition not be a child any more.
I must admit that I've worked with controls that filter each other. And as far as I'm concerned, that's an idiocy that only a certain kind of managers can come up with.
