My apologies for not qualifying more detail in my OP. My responses below are in no particular order.
- Most Americans have nar a clue regarding the deep cultural history and the importance therein of which the rest of the world has and lives by, save only when they actually visit that corner of the world. As such, sadly, we do disparage cultures, seemingly obsessive with doing such at times.
- Analogy: If a person were at the bottom of a hill and another were 10 to 50 feet uphill and they start a yellow/brown-laidened snowball rolling toward the person, while the impact won't amount to much, it's still a yellow/brown snowball. But, when yellow/brown snowballs are allowed to start being hauled to the hilltop, the damage is more severe; especially unwarranted damage. In short, this was, in my objective conclusion, a yellow/brown snowball that needed to be stopped at the base of the hill before it started making its way to the hilltop.
- With the incredibly diverse member population and high level of overall professional disposition so prominent on CP, this article simply did not fit that character. While some may conclude this a subjective conclusion, I proffer otherwise.
- There are many persons with whom many of us disagree with on political or other non-technical viewpoint fronts. CP (at least the articles) is not nor should be a vehicle toward disparaging either persons or cultures, however tongue-in-cheek it is. The Soapbox Forum seems a place for some of that type of disparaging, though.
- Fair Disclosure: I interfaced with over 2,000 non-native English speaking persons, mostly Hispanic/Latino in cultural origin, wherein I programmed a computer application (volunteer project) to enable them to learn English as Second Language (circa 1990~92).
- Look at some of my message posts where I note to various CP members wherein English is not their native tongue and laud their use/understanding of the English language. I even engage in providing some tips on English word use and, in a few instances, provide a recommended rewrite (in part or in whole of their article or bio) to best capture what they purpose to convey.
It is an honor at how grateful they are that a) I took the time to do such, and b) that they were appreciative of learning a bit more on the English language.
As such, disparaging other languages, of which can be and is deep-rooted in many a culture, from an (American) English (or any other language) bent is, in both my subjective and objective conclusions, not welcomed (within CP articles and the likes).

I rather doubt that. That would suggest that most do not even know history exists. Which isn't the same as saying that they know what that history is.
And I am rather certain that at least a large portion of the world has difficulty with certain aspects of the US culture. As one example many have a problem with the US stance on the private ownership of guns.

Are you claiming that the US is the only culture in the world that disparages other cultures?
And if you back pedal on that then please do provide an example of a culture that doesn't disparage at least one other culture.

I would agree that the content was inane and childish. And the posting location was inappropriate.
However a "professional" better be capable of dealing with things that one finds personally offensive or give up any hope of working in the professional world.

To the first comment, I will say this much:
That culture is the very reason which kept a distance foreign nation from invading the West Coast prior to and during WWII. And, I'm confident, it is what keeps most, if not all, nations from doing such even today.

So, I'm seeing (print) ads (5 so far) for various Windows 8 Laptops and desktops; you know, Christmas sale season & all.
Thing is, the ads are "touting" the touch-ability of their specific hardware combined Windows 8, with the main Windows 8 screen showing, you know, all those rectangles for different tasks, apps, etc.
Thing is, the "actor(s)" in the ad(s) using the laptop/desktop are "using" it with all hands/fingers on the keyboard.

When it comes to chocolate we can dismiss gravity; in any case any such planet, of course, is made up of extremely dense chocolate with a biscuit core and some even have raisins and peanuts scattered at random on the surface. They have a vaguely sweet atmosphere, usually with an odor of honey.
