I would have marked my answer [Not an answer] - had I been bother to actually answer this...

Well, of course, it is a question, and a valid one IMHO. We do not know anything about the person who posted it: joined CP today and could quite easily be a schoolchild, or someone from a non-IT background.

I agree with you on that the person may not be experienced. However, the answer to such a question is quite easily found with a Google search.
Although I didn't do a thing there, I understand why someone marked it as "not a question".

You are right, but it's still a question.

It's may be a valid question (and doesn't matter how bad phrase), but the true answer is: take a year off and start reading-learning-programming, and I saw that as you became more resourceful its harder to answer a question that talks about your beginnings...
I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is (V).

Kornfeld Eliyahu Peter wrote: and I saw that as you became more resourceful its harder to answer a question that talks about your beginnings.. I don't have a problem with that, I still remember even the name of my fellow operator who first taught me the basics of programming back in 1966 (47 years ago)!

Good to you. Sometimes I can't remember the lot I parked the car at the morning...

Yes, I agree. Marking it as 'not a question', won't help the OP.

I fear I am condemned. Condemned to float upon a cloud with Da Codz.
My current 'repository' is zip files on an external archive drive. I am thinking of doing something a wee bit more formal as I have to ship this shyte occasionally and it would be nice to be able to check when, what and were changes occurred.
So the Vilmos is thinking of using a hosting site, I've got some in mind already, that supports git. My question is thus, what do you use for a source repository and what are the pitfalls?
Remember kids, there are no prizes except that warm feeling of helping Vilmos.

You can easily host your personal projects on Team Foundation Services[^]. It's free to use and works directly inside Visual Studio.

93.47% of my work is outside the MS stack - Java and PHP [Do I not like that!] - are the biggies currently. Though I may be doing some Sharepoint [aka WTE] soon.

Not sure how much of that is true and how much is marketing b'lox, but at that price it's probably worth trying.

From the marketing speech, it seems TFS support both Visual Studio and Eclipse, so it may be worth the shot.
