Just got back from a neurology appointment at the local hospital. My cardiologist referred me to one after noting my slightly droopy eyelids. Tiredness after long days is no longer a valid excuse. Smile | :)

He ran a battery of tests and it looks 99% confirmed I have myaesthenia gravis which affects, most specifically, the facial muscles. I've unwittingly lived with it for a few years and it never really bugged me but it has a tendency to get worse over time. The suspicion is that I may have plateaued and so won't degenerate further. However, the treatments can be unpleasant. Some of the options are:

1. Steroids. That makes me an Arnie wannabe. One side affect is an increas in heart rate which he wants my cardiologist to comment on first.

2. Immunosuppresants. That should partially reverse the effects and restore relatively normal muscle reaction but at the cost of giving me the sh*ts, and often. I think Mrs. Wife will say, business as usual then. Smile | :)

3. Another option might require removal of the thymus gland. FTFY. If it ain't broke, they ain't gonna sod around with it.

He's referred me for a battery of additional tests to confirm what he reckons. I can live with the crappy thing as I've already done. Knowing what it is helps me to get things managed. I hate taking pills and to have more will piss me off as it ain't what I want. Fortunately, the associated fatigue that goes with it isn't manifest in my case. My princess knows the geezer I saw and she reckons he's a top dog consultant. Another chapter in life thus begins. They do bloody clever things in medicine now. Princess is back on Sunday so she can take me for a nice meal and a cold frosty.

Cheers. Of sorts. Smile | :)
If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.
