So about a dollar a share over current market? That's 10% near enough - I think that'll go through, with everyone who didn't jump out a window at the end of last week... Be interesting to know what Fairfax are considering doing with them.
Won't help the 4,500 poor sods who they are dumping though - or improve the morale of those that are left.

Fairfax is already the largest shareholder of BB stock, so they only pay on whatever the outstanding market shares are aside from what they hold.
In reality, this should be titled "Fairfax purchases $4.7B of failing tech in an attempt to mitigate losses". That's about what they are really doing, since they are the largest shareholder they stand to lose about that much as the stock plummets. Purchasing the company and taking it private will stop-gap the bleed, but in the end unless they have a solid plan to save the company (aside from offer 2 "high end" and 2 "entry level" phones, all they are doing is postponing the inevitable.
BB was big when people had business phones and personal phones, but now that they are mostly one and the same with employers opting to reimburse employees for usage rather than make them carry around second devices BB is falling behind because it really doesn't have many recreational uses. What they should really do is adopt Android or Windows for the new devices and jump back into the market as a new HTC, and stop trying to pigeon hole users into something that really doesn't have many third-party developers making the experience fluid (aka, new apps).

Have you ever debugged your app, asking yourself why it doesn't perform like it should just to find out that you haven't implemented the OnClick event of the Button which should call the method which is intended to make the app do what you want it to?
I just did .
You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colon."

Well, everybody brainfarts from time to time, so do not feel stupid. Plus, that one seems pretty obvious to debug.

Genius me started to look for a bug in the TCP Client/Server implementation - For 15 minutes until I reckoned that the client's send method was never called - I think you can guess why .

Nah, Sometimes I debug a huge amount of code (that i previously tested) to find a problem more obvious (like and '!' in front of a Boolean expression).

I think once or twice, the opposite has happened to me. Implemented an method, but then forgot to add the method call, and then wonder why my breakpoints aren't hitting.

Don't feel bad. I just found a create table statement with an extra comma that caused an infinite loop. The statement was added over 4 months ago. Unfortunately, it was discovered on a client remote.

Once, I implemented a mail client/server in Java long back (around 2002 I think). I found that no mails are being sent. I started putting System.out messages everywhere (No debugging tools back then Used to use notepad to write code). Finally to find out that the sendMail method was never called. Took around 30 minutes to find that that line was commented by me the previous day to do some fast coding+debugging on UI feature.

I did that in a demo to a new client but then quickly thinking on feet savd the day. I loudly yelled "So, this is how we debug, folks... Who wants to have coffee break?"....
