I'm still going to use the site, just now it's going to be on my phone using 3G and take a lot longer.
Plus I've already lost time bitching about it.
The world has changed, you no longer have go to work do work stuff, leave work do none work stuff. Lines are blurred, you can do work stuff and none work stuff at work and not at work, indeed it is expected, so why is the other way round not acceptable?
Does it cost the company anything in monetary terms or lost productivity, or do people simply adapt to fit the occasional none work thing into their working day?
If I want to waste time I shall do it regardless of what websites are open or closed, it gets closed down enough then when I'm bored or want a break then I'll waste time with by talking to my colleagues instead, then I'm stopping several people working.
All this treat your employees like an untrustworthy child bullshit is totally counter productive.

True, but there are always that small percentage who do sweet FA every day, whether they have access to the internet or not. Years ago I had a colleague who came into the office in the morning, spent 5 or 10 minutes rooting around in his desk, picked up a folder full of papers and walked out. Round about 5 or 5:30 he returned, put the folder back in his desk and went home. No one knew what he did all day.

Yes, there is.
a) A site that specifies in a popup that it doesn't work without cookies.
b) Even worse: A site with a popup (disabling the main window/frame) that you can close, but on closing reloads the site, leading to the exact same popup if coockies are disabled. 
The good thing about pessimism is, that you are always either right or pleasently surprised.

How about a popup that lets you choose whether to enable cookies or not, and only after you choose "no" informs you that it will just refuse to work then.

My mobile phone provider has some sort of 'best plan' thing where every six months they provide you with some alternative plans that could be better for you. So they send me a text message telling me my best plan review has been done with a link to their website. I log into the website to be presented with a message saying "you are not eligible for a best plan review".

Turning on the popup blocker, but all the popups are in the history, so the browser Back button doesn't actually do anything anymore except try to go back to the popups you blocked...which are still blocked, so don't show up and Back just keeps you on the same page forever and then you die.

Sites that don't remember that I unchecked "Remember me" and automatically check it again on my next visit.
I was also on a site yesterday, uploading photos, and there were (pre-checked) checkboxes to allow the photos to be public. I kept unchecking them, but whenever I did something on the page it would re-check them.

0: Inane long winded, mostly one-sided cell phone calls from wife or in-laws, especially during working hours.
1: Patiently enduring annoyance 0 when another call comes in. Multiply 0 x 2.
2: (0 || 1) && battery is dying.
3: (0 || 1) && bad signal on either end. ('sorry, I didn't hear that last bit of gibberish')
4: The inevitable fallout from failing to answer/return 0 in a timely fashion.
Web related:
5: Google now automatically redirects to https despite my home page setting making it more difficult to manually enter a url.
6: Clicking the browser back button becomes useless when you discover a dozen ad-clicks have ocurred.
Other:
7: Hearing wife people refer to a USB storage device as a zip drive.
8: Hearing wife people refer to a zip file as a zip drive.
9: Picking paint colors for a new house.

My arms are deaded. I just cut the hedge, last chance me thinks this year, and I could barely lift the trimmers over my head. Last night we went to the gym and after a run and cycle I decided to go on the rowing machine; something I haven't used for maybe 20 years. I managed 9:24 for 2000m which is not good but for an out of shape 46yo I was happy.
I'm hoping to get it back under 8 minutes, but I think that may take a week or seven.

I shall be telling dearest love that it took hours to do the hedge, so I now have the rest of the day to, as they say in the best instruction manuals, faff around.

That's what I shall be telling Herself about the deep fat frier, when in reality it's ten minutes with this stuff[^] and a brush. Then you leave it for a couple of hours, and wash it off. Just don't get it near plastic or aluminium... 
As long as she believes it was one of these[^] and a lot of this[^] it's all Brownie Points for me!
