I've been doing the same; but my reactions have been the opposite of yours.

I've been reminded of why I dislike Java and why I utterly detest the utter PoS that is known as Eclipse.

On top of which I've learned that Google doesn't know how to make APIs that don't suck. A situation I'm defining as creating something with flaws such that 99% of the examples its search returns are catastrophically flawed (good luck finding an example of how to create a ui popup that can return a value and doesn't crash/fail to return on rotation, or how the lack of an ORM results in huge numbers of DB examples using string concatenation queries) and cases where doing it right becomes more of a PITA with newer versions (all the extra boilerplate needed to redo your UI in fragments).
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.
