I'm working on a file management application that has several *.aspx pages. On the main page, it shows a list of files and folders. When the user clicks on "remove file" button, a new form (removefile.aspx) loads up and has a button to remove the selected file(s). This action physically deletes the file(s) from the server. There's also a "done" button on that page that reloads the main page and refreshes the files/folders list.
However, if the user does not use the "done" button to go back, but uses the broswer's "back" button, the main page loads but the files/folders list is not refreshed.
How can I make it refresh?
One more problem is that I often get this message when using the "back" and "forward" buttons on the broswer:
"The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you.
To resubmit your information and view this Web page, click the Refresh button. "
Lastly, when I click on "refresh" button of the browser, it says "page cannot be refreshed without resending the info. Click retry to send thei info again."
How do I prevent all these problems?

I am looking for help with a function either VBScript or JavaScript for a document tracking system.
I have a data entry form where I browse for a file to fill in a field in a DB Table, all I need is the path to the file or a UNC link to the file. I have found lots of snippets but they all lead to the file being imbeded in the table.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks always! DEWright

<form onSubmit="this.form.path.value=this.form.stub.value">
<input type="hidden" name="path">
<input type="file" name="stub">
<input type="submit">
</form> Make sure you leave the form's enctype set to its default value: "application/x-www-form-urlencoded". This way, the file will not be uploaded to the server when the form submits.
Once received by the server you'll have a variable, named path , that will contain the filepath.

Does anyone know of a free Windows GUI-based application that can open and read raw web log files and provide reports on unique visitors, hit counts, etc.? It needs to support the basic log formats (IIS optional).

I am creating a web page with a user name and password. When a valid entry is given, the user will be shown a page with links to four different Access Projects, which live on a server. I want to use the Access front-end, so I just want to link to the .MDB file directly.
When I make a simple html page, the database opens, but after I close the Access project, I get a prompt to enter the password. I have never set up a password, so I am stumped as to why this is occurring.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

I have created a VB Script that reads and write a file. Problem is that while the script loops through the file it kills the processor causing time out errors on other processes. In VB I could use the DoEvents method to give the processor a chance to catch up. Is there a function like this I could use for VB script?
Thanks,
Jason W.

Nope, except if you are building a WScript (which has Sleep command)

Unfortunately you cannot create WScript object in code. This object is pre-created by Windows Script Host(WSH) and built-in, like Response object in ASP (which you are not creating, but accessing its methods). And it is available only in WSH, at least as I know. To test it, you can create a simple VBScript file (with .vbs extension) and double-click it to run. But not in ASP.
If you'll find a way how to access this object from ASP, be sure to post it here I'd love to use Sleep method too

Hello, Masters.
This is not about programming but I think this board
is the last resort to me. I am in panic.
I log on to the Internet using ADSL dial-up connection.
Next launch the internet explorer with a default homepage setting.
Now suddenly I receive a java script which translates into a popup window
that carries an advertisement. Ok. I know some websites throws this kind of
ads using java script.
Now type in a different website and type ENTER.
After several seconds (this can be minutes) the same ad shows up.
Click a message in a message board and the ad pops up. Now I have 2 windows. Go to a website whatever it is. one more window. click anything
there. one more window.....the EXACTLY SAME advertisement popup windows are
interminably haunting on and on.
Moreover I can not kill the internet explorer unless I
receive the ad window (hence the java script that somebody must
have sent over the internet.) Pressing the close button does not
take effect unless I receive it. Only after receiving the window
I can close the internet explorer.
Who sends this? how can I stop this? Is this a new vicious technology?
Please help me. I am literally dying.

Hey...
what I can help you with is a little Javascript that executes a specific comandad after a certain string of letters or keys are pressed in the correct order on your keyboard.
Place this in the <head> of your file(s) and substitute "word" in the SpecialWord variable for any string of characters that you wish to use. The SpecialUrl can be any page where you would like to be redirected after typing your secret word.
SO here it goes..
<br />
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"><br />
var SpecialWord = "word",SpecialUrl = "http://www.yoursite.com/secrete_server/",SpecialLetter = 0;<br />
<br />
function getKey(keyStroke) {<br />
var isNetscape=(document.layers);<br />
<br />
<br />
var eventChooser = (isNetscape) ? keyStroke.which : event.keyCode;<br />
var which = String.fromCharCode(eventChooser).toLowerCase();<br />
if (which == SpecialWord.charAt(SpecialLetter)) {<br />
SpecialLetter++;<br />
if (SpecialLetter == SpecialWord.length) window.location = SpecialUrl;<br />
}<br />
else SpecialLetter = 0;<br />
}<br />
document.onkeypress = getKey;<br />
</script><br />
with a small modification you could execute a specific JScript, VBScript..or pretty much anything else..
hope that works...
luck..

Does anyone know how I can get my servers time/date. I have a register form in my site, and I want to capture the time the form was sent,..but what I want to avoid is capturing the time/date in the persons PC because then, if by any chance the person has the wrong time/date or is in a different time/date zone, then I'd be saving all sorts of useless info.
I could use one of two things, the current time by TIME ZONES, or the time/date in my server...
thanks guys!

In ASP it would be easy, just call VBScript's Now() function and you'll get it
