Two excellent examples.
Poodles, as you are no doubt aware, are a German Dog that was bred to hunt the Lions that the Romans pushed into the Black Forest of Germania in order to spring the locals out and kill them.
The Germanians were not keen on this so bred a hound, similar to a greyhound, that had curly hair to protect it from branches and thorns and which would hunt in packs and kill lions.
Vultures are, of course, predators, and have very good forward looking stereoscopic vision.(A higher Visual Acuity than we do in fact) and are able to see quite a way ahead of them.
