It's a stop-go, currently i'm working on a PC game.
2 weeks ago, i worked on a mobile game.
I think by the end of this project i'll have to programm a mobile game, or not? i don't know...

The shift towards mobile device computing that is happening is very exciting to me. It is interesting to see not only how technology evolves but also the business associated with technology. A whole new set of leaders might arise. The established ones are quaking in the boots. The Adobe killing off mobile flash is a good example.
I am eager to develop apps for Android primarily because I own an Android phone. I don't care if Android survives or not, or for that matter this mobile platform itself, coz I'd have known something new and different, which is never a waste of time.
Now I understand how all you old farts who have lived through various paradigm shifts in computing must have felt.
I could have just said that I'd be developing within 3 months, or better not made a post at all, but I wanted to throw in my two paise.

To be perfectly honest until I owned a tablet I just didn't get what the big fuss was about and where the market was for software on them.
My view has changed significantly.
My 16 month old son loves to play with any computer but he can't really interact with them because he lacks the motor control to type or use a mouse. A touch screen, however, is right up his alley. He will be amused for a long time by making balloons pop on screen and drawing with his fingers, or even just watching himself poke his tongue out thanks to the camera. It's hilarious to watch and fills my house with fun and laughter.
So I figure if I use my skills to chuck something together and put it on the app store for free hopefully I can make a few kids laugh too.

Excellent! I too have an 18-month old son who is fascinated by my iPad and I try to find apps suitable for him to play on it. There's a few things out there, but there could be a lot more.
Testement to these things really that someone so young gets the idea and can effectively interact with it, while he still has to master saying 'mummy' and 'daddy'.
BTW - why make them free? $1 isn't going to kill anyone and you might just make a bit of cash at the same time?

If it came up I would be very pleased to work on those tiny thingies, I'm sure it's fun.
But for the moment we make big software for big machines, and no prospect of handhelds. Some day.

'Till now, everything I needed to show on a mobile device needed a web connection.
I strongly believe that in these cases it makes no sence to write device specific software. It's much easier on every aspect to write it as a web application that fits nicelly on them all.
There was a time when the UI was a drawback but not now that we have such great tools to simulate that on the web, i.e. http://jquerymobile.com/[^]
So I answered Maybe just because I can't exclude the possibility at 100% but I'm on the 95%

The application will most likely be in html5 and css3. a lot of the applications coming out for these devices are written in html5/css3/javascript and are taking advantage of web services.

Ehm yes, probably some day. I've developed for ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, DOS, 16/32/64 bit Windows, 32/64 bit Linux, HP UX, web front ends and back ends, why not tablets as well? Just another platform.

Oh I didn't realize that this was the same survey that was done in the month of Oct. 2010. It would be nice to see a side by side comparison of the results.

I'm currently working on a side project for Windows Phone, and when that is done I am going start slapping different front ends on the engine so that it will run in Silverlight, then on W8.
While I dream of making enough money to retire, I realistically expect to make dozens of dollars. The real point is to actually have something in production that:
1. I can point my family to and say "That's what I do"
2. Show to prospective employers to say "I know these technologies and here's proof. Care to see the code?"

Just downloaded all the SDK's, API's, and all that crap. Isntalled IntelliJ and I am going to develop an Android app if it kills me. I'm going out of my comfort zone here and I am on a mission to learn something completely new to me.
I just might write my first article on this adventure. Who knows.

Definitely do! ...I've been tinkering with the idea of writing Android apps, but its a lot to learn and don't exactly have a lot of time on my hands (since I also don't do Java, that adds to the pile of need to learn along with the Android specifics).

I haven't coded Java since my college days; luckily I kept all my "hello world" apps. 
Time is an issue with me as well but I am tired of using that as an excuse.

I did this a couple of months ago. Was a lot of fun and I dipped my toe into the water around the android libraries. My background wasn't java but I've years of C++ and C# so it wasn't too hard to find "the java way" of doing things in places.
I produced an application so my Dad could score duplicate bridge on board ships (cruises).

We keep looking at devices and platforms to find the best solution for our mobile apps.
If at some point a particular device looks to be the best way forwards then we will develop for them.
Currently we use either toughbooks running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, with some development to take account of the stylus input, or PDAs running an old version of Windows Mobile.
