Is there any way of using both winsock an CSocket in the same project?
I second Rickard. You don't want that!
For examples of using Winsock or CAsyncSocket or overlapped IO ask Google (Codeproject has some tutorials too).

There is no CSocket.h header file. Just add this line to your stdafx.h header file:
#include AfxSock.h
and then call AfxSocketInit(NULL) in your CMyApp::InitInstance() !

Iv'e tried to use RasConnectionNotification() but I get an error:
'undeclared identifier'
Iv'e tried to write a prototype:
DWORD APIENTRY RasConnectionNotificationW(HRASCONN, HANDLE, DWORD);<br />
DWORD APIENTRY RasConnectionNotificationA(HRASCONN, HANDLE, DWORD);<br />
<br />
#define RasConnectionNotification RasConnectionNotificationW
got an error: 'RasConnectionNotification' - unresoulved external
I've added Rasapi32.lib to the linker, also included Ras.h
I also use in my code RasEnumConnections() - links great(How???, same lib!)
What have I done wrong?

RasConnectionNotification was defined in Ras.h also RasEnumConnections.
There is no need to write function declaration manually!

At 1st, I didn't declared RasConnectionNotification , but I got an error of 'undeclares identifier'. My WINVER is 0x500 (Win2K) and I linked properly to Rasapi32.lib, so I don't find any reason for this not to work.
IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

Are you using the "correct" version of Windows? Ras.h has this line in it before RasConnectionNotification #if (WINVER >= 0x401)

My WINVER is 5 (Win2K). Maybe it's in my project settings symbols.
Friends, I need help!

Just created a simple console app on my PC NT4 Visual C++ 6.0
#include "Windows.h"<br />
#include "Ras.h"<br />
<br />
int main(int argc, char* argv[])<br />
{<br />
HRASCONN hrasconn = NULL;
HANDLE hEvent = NULL;
DWORD dwFlags = RASCN_Connection;
<br />
RasConnectionNotification(hrasconn, hEvent, dwFlags);<br />
return 0;<br />
}
Compiles and links OK I think I am using November 2001 SDK as well, so it looks like your settings!

If you plan to call executables with relative paths, be sure to set the current directory first ( ::SetCurrentDirectory(xxx) ).

:(Guys i am having a problem using VC++.NET compiler. I make change in my code and then "build" my program. Its getting build successfully. Now when i try to run the program or debug, then VC++ again ask me to build certain files prompting me that "Project configurations are out of date"
How can i get rid of this because my source code is too large about 22 classes in headers and CPPs, it is taking long time to build but when i try to run/debug, it again ask me to build the files

Has your system date changed recently ? I found I had problems like that in VC6 where my files were dated after the system date, and they persisted until the date passed the date I had been set to.

Do a Clean to delete all .obj files (thus timestamps as well). Also, make sure to delete by hand all temporary files, including .ncb, .opt, .aps, ....

Hello,
I am having a plain text file which i generated from different hardware parameters such as Disk vol serial number, MAC address, CPU speed etc(Key.txt)
I want to encrypt a file using Symmetric private key encryption in VC++. The private key used for encryption should be the file i generated (Key.txt).
Can any one help me..
Thanks in advance.

If I understand you right, you perform some calculation over the computer's configuration and want to use the result as a key in a symmetric encryption.
I see some problems:
1) Anyone using this computer could decrypt your file because he can recalculate the key.
2) If the configuration changes (for exampe change NIC), you can't recalculate the key, therefore you can't decrypt your data anymore.
3) Your key can be recalculated by anyone knowing the computers configuration and your algorithm. The best keys are the ones generated with known algorithms from random data. You know that "security by obscurity" doesn't work.

hi karl..
Thanks for your response..OK well suppose i have calculated the key from random data. But my problem is how to encrypt a file using this key.(Symmetric encryption). I want to do this in VC++. Can you help me..please..

In dialog properties window, select Styles tab, then uncheck Title bar check box.
