The rest of the email you received should clarify the issue. Anyone can request your password, but as the email says, only you will ge the password, and the password itself isn't your actual password - it's a temporary password you can use to get back in to your account. If you remember your old password after a new password has been sent, just login with your old password (as long as you haven't logged in with the temp password - doing so makes it permanent).

We store passwords using one-way hashing, so we can't actually even retrieve your existing password.

To summarise: your password hasn't been compromised. As soon as you log back in with your current password the temp password is deleted.
