either use javascript & php and the web browser - or you'll have to get them to install something and use java/C# etc to interact with the desktop.

- use php to store to the oracle db.
- use ajax (google "jquery") to display a pop up in the browser or
2.
Depends what you make.
If you make a java program then they will need to install it plus the java runtime (JRE).
If I was in your position I would build the pages & db for adding questions and responses with a boolean "answered" - default to "0".
And then use java to test ask the database at intervals for that user's questions if "answered = 1". if it returns any rows the display a popup for that item using the system tray (if this is for windows environment).

I want to design a security software of a small company. the company has 3 books which are:

Occurrence book
tools book
the guard will be able to input to visitors book visitors name, time in, time out and so on...
even in the occurrence book the guard should be able to input some thing.

I have an ebook protection website, users come to protect there ebooks by your website through a software, you can see how many users opened the book by IPs, also they can only open your ebook with a key that they buy from you, or from your clients that pay you a month to month fee to protect there ebooks too.

key fields that need fixing:
1. Admin and users can't login and users can't signup, users signup and it says successful, but I dont see users that signed up in myphpadmin but I see the admin details for signing up?
2. users don't get emails that they have signed up?
3. I get a run time error when opening the ebook software LockFileGeneratorSetup.exe this is what users download to protect there ebooks.

If I enter correct admin login and password it does not display any error message and remains on the same screen but it do not allow to enter into any admin area. But when I enter wrong password it displays error.
I only see where you need to fix the admin and user logins to where they need to login, and fix the main ebook software script that locks and protects the ebooks, it has a run time error message.

Hi,
I need some general advice. I've developed a simple application in c# that generates various statistics. What i want to do now is feed that information to my web server (php, mysql) do display that data in a simple, graphical way.
I've had a look on google and theres lots of talk about SOAP, XML, web services etc, but no clear cut tutorial on how to do what I want (that ive been able to find)
can you point me in the right direction?

how/where is the data stored in the first place? if it isn't then I suggest storing it using c# to the mysql database. then you can retrieve it from the db using php webpages.

its just stored in RAM at the moment. i have a mysql database on the server, so should i use the MYSQL connector to connect to it and send the data that way?

I am uploading file and encoded it with ffmpeg and saving three encoded files(flv, mpg, mov) on Red5 server. All the things are going well for videos less than 13MB. but when i am going to upload large files, got an error on mozilla of connection lost. Even i have increased post_max_size=1024M ,execution time=1000000 and upload_max_filesize=1024M.....

If I remember rightly 1024M != 1024MB. 102400 = 10MB. I'll let you do the math. if that doesnt work I know I got it working with swfupload.

Alright, I've created a PhP page that takes the data from a field and e-mails that data to a specified user. It also sends a conformation e-mail to the person who filled in the form.
The problem is I can not get it to work when either the specified user or the person filling out the form is from an out of house e-mail address (I'm at a business).
I know the code works because I can move the page to my personal server and it works with any e-mail addresses, no problem.
Naturally, I figure it's a setting in PhP on the server that is stopping the outgoing mail. But, I do not have access to the PhP settings to change them - its a large business, and one guy alone does the PhP setting stuff. I want to try to get this to work without having to change a setting in the PhP.
I've heard about work around scripts to get this to work. Any ideas/input would be greatly appreciated.

So your first step is to determine what applications the source and target machines will have.

I am using wget[^] to pull the security camera jpeg images off my office FTP server and copy them to a remote site. Perhaps you could do the same.

Hi,
you can try Net::FTP module. It's a very efficient and simple way to work with ftp in Perl. If you want to just upload some files from a shell script, without using Perl, you can use wput to upload or wget to download. But I think that using Perl with Net::FTP is better.
