I installed .NET FRAMEWORK BETA 2.
Does anyone know Inside C# by Tom Archer up today (BETA 2) or any other books which will concentrates on C#.

I am looking for some help with COM interop. I am trying to using a COM object from within a web service written in C#. Most of the methods exposed through the interface work fine, except for those that return a safearray of variants. Below is an example of one such method's definition in the .idl file.
HRESULT foo([in] SAFEARRAY(BSTR)* tags, [out, retval] SAFEARRAY(VARIANT)* values);
The COM object connects to a server process and I can see the server executing the request, but the following exception is thrown :
System.ArgumentException: Method's type signature is not Interop compatible.
Any ideas on what is happening?

Is there any where, which is be able to give me an short working sample using the principalpermission-class from .net?
like:
user peter is "admin" and calls method a_1 from class myClass.
user tom is "user" and calls method a_1 from class myClass and here is throw an principal-permission-Security-exception... because tom is not an admin.
but how i have this to write in c#?

I have an old application written in C where I had a large image on view and the user was then able to create a moving line / image between a point and the mouse cursor without redrawing the orginal image, the line/image was also removes as the cursor position changes relative to the start point. With the old sdk this was done with calls as setrop2 etc. How can I do this with C# and .net

Is it possible to implement an interface that has been written in another language in c#?
Right now I have an interface that was writtin in unmanaged C++ (proably) that I have been told to implement in C#. How tough would this be?

An interface is just a description of methods and properties you must impliment. So you should be able to just create the interface in C# and use it.

You can use DX8 from C#. Look on http://discuss.develop.com/ in the DOTNET newsgroup for a discussion; there's a problem with the DX8 typelib as shipped.

So, is it okay or need to have more RAM and faster processor?

That's enough for "minimum requirements", the recommended configuration is at least 733MHz CPU and 256MB RAM. I think upgrading your RAM is more important than a faster CPU.

More RAM is definitely more important than CPU speed. I like 256MB, though 512MB can also make in improvement in speed (and RAM is pretty cheap these days).

Anybody has tried to dive into ConfigManager class? ConfigManager.Put, ConfigManager.PutItem and so on?
How about IConfigCollection Interface?

I have a class with some member functions. My requirement is that i will get the function names as strings and using those strings I should be able to invoke the member functions.
I would appreciate if somebody could help me out in this issue.

If you need to be totally free-form in your functions, you'll want to use reflection to call the functions. Type.InvokeMember will probably do what you want, but be warned that it's fairly slow, as it has to do a lot of work to figure out what function you want to call.
If your problem has enough regularity in the number and types of parameters, you could write a delegate for each function type, store those in a hashtable, and then look them up based on the function name. This would be a lot faster than using reflection, but more work.
