Thanks. It works again, kind of. It opens and shows the files:

1. some layout issues seem fixed, that were present last time it worked (width, word wrap, unexpected end-of-file).

2. however tab expansion now is crazy, see e.g. CP Vanity[^], formMain.cs, all declarations starting at line 105.

The layout issues were caused by browsers getting all confused about tabs. We exchanged emails some time back about browsers and their poor handling of tabs, and it's a similar issue here. Specifically, browsers seem to not understand how long a tab is, even though they are doing the layout, and so they get completely messed up when trying to wrap.

We implemented the same tab-to-text code I used in the code sniffer update I sent you, so we're doing our best to preserve spacing when ther are mixed tabs and spaces.

I understand tabs are not ideal for browsers, so I expect you replace them by spaces indeed. However there must be an obvious bug right now, as a series of identical lines (the ones I referred to all had two leading tabs, and the three-digit line number you prefixed) get rendered in a very ragged way.

Looks like I just got a few univotes, some on posts that have no good reason to be univoted (i.e., that are not offending anybody). Just thought I'd mention it in case the same person as last time has taken a more subtle univoting strategy (perhaps under a newly created account?). If so, then maybe they could use a firmer consequence. If not, then no worries... maybe some people just happened to have not liked a few of my posts at the same time for no particular reason, or maybe I have a new univoting fan. Roll eyes | :rolleyes:

By the way, if this happens in the future, should I just not report it? I don't really care much, but I thought you might want to teach some of the inexperienced members about proper voting etiquette. If you'd like the site to moderate itself via the automatic systems you have in place already, that is fine as well.

We do look into voting patterns but typically what you see is someone being totally normal, then getting a downvote fetish for a dozen messages, then normal.

If it's an account created specifically to downvote we nuke and ban that account. REporting never hurts, and always feel free to email me directly.

Can't Report Abusive Tips/Tricks

Since I can't seem to report a tip/trick as abuse from the tip/trick itself (which is a bug or maybe a feature request), take a look at this tip/trick. It appears to be plagiarised (see here: http://noman-tariq.blogspot.com/2009/08/tips-to-write-good-stored-procedure.html). I decided to check on that after finding out the author plagiarised the only article they posted (I reported that already, via the report as abuse option at the top of the article).

I peeked at the about page on the blog and the blog author appears to be the same as the post author.

Thanks for looking into it, but I wasn't able to make that connection. Maybe you are able to see their email address and that's how you made the connection? In any event, perhaps they should modify their articles to link to the ones posted in other places.

Also, remember that my post here wasn't just to report the abuse... it's also to report the fact that I have no means of reporting abuse without coming here.

The author of the tip/trick has a CP profile where he's specified India as country. The blog's About page says the author is Noman Tariq from Islamabad, Pakistan.

I know that Indians and Pakistanis look kinda similar in appearance, but these two seem to be 2 different people. Unsure | :~

Yeah, and the other article this author plagiarised was copied from an article posted by somebody with a Chinese sounding name (I may be incorrect about that... I'm not good at figuring out the origin of names). The Chinese sounding name, by the way, was not Noman Tariq.

Hmmm, unless I am blind, I don't think that's there for me. I see a "Tools" box that contains "Print", "Share", "Discuss", "Watch answers", "Watch comments". And below that are two links, "Report Bug" and "Suggestions". And floating to the bottom right of the question are "Permalink" and "Bookmark". And to the left of that is the author's username. Am I missing something?
