Hi! What's the deal about CListCtrl as answer? One or more persons are writing it every Monday as optional text answer, is there a history behind, secret cowboy neal option, inside joke, etc? *curious*

I am trying to update my user profile because I want to submit an article, but when I try to update my settings I am returned to a blank page and the settings are not saved. Please advise. Is the site undergoing some maintenance which is preventing this?

Due to some unknown problem, for days, all of us are getting a white page if we take too long, e.g. composing a message in a forum. If we take more than a couple minutes, it fails with a white page result; otherwise things seem fine.
I would not compose an article on-line! I always keep my source locally, and use whatever editor I like, then copy-paste all of it in the CP edit box.

I wish it would be that easy. At least in Tips/Tricks it is a mish-mash of text and XHTML (apparently <br> tags are added where newlines are), so what you see is not what you get. I'd wish there would be a wiki format - or alternatively pure XHTML.

Only if you choose not to allow HTML in your messages. Tips and Tricks uses the same editor and layout engine as the article system, and you can use full HTML in that*
* with a few exceptions. Some HTML is dangerous and gets stripped.

There is no such option when improving a tip/trick. When pasting there is "allow HTML", which I used.
Btw, in the forum editor I have "Use HTML in this post" enabled per default.

I found the issue, and found the issue for all the other blank pages that have been ocurring. yay.

It needs approving by a member with sufficient status - at the weekend there aren't as many members around to look it over. Just be patient  I'll have a look at myself shortly...

your alternate seems to need approval for reasons unknown to me. As you posted another T&T today (to which I added a comment!), you might have known that already.
I'm not going to approve it, as I am not sufficiently comfortable with C++, and don't see the added value; I do agree with most that was said in the original T&T. I'm also afraid your alternate is making the compiler do the inefficient recursions. IMO Fibonacci is the prime example of things that should NOT be done with recursion, in the app nor in the compiler.

I've approved it anyway Luc. I agree with all your points but it adheres to the approval recommendations, the rest is up to the community to judge/vote on now it's 'in the wild'.

[Probably the wrong place to mention this] The point I was trying to make in the tip (oops, obviously failed) was:
"Interestingly, the compiler doesn't take very long to work this out while the recursive technique the original poster outlined was incredibly slow. So how does the compiler do it?"

I don't know. Maybe it did take long (and you didn't notice) the first time the file got compiled, and did not bother recompiling the file later on as nothing had been changed?

I got an email from CP that states:'Reason for my vote of 5 Automatic vote of 5 for accepting answer'
I opened up the link[^]. The comment was there but answer is not marked as accepted. I doubt if this is the expected behaviour. If so, then comments/notification needs a change and if not, then there is a bug - answer marked as accepted is missing(and probably the reputation points related to it!).
UPDATE:
Another instance[^] of similar thing I just came across.

Could just be the author rejecting the answer they previously accepted (not sure if they can do that). I also noticed similar behavior here. The author accepts the answers, says thanks, I see a message that says "Automatic vote of 5 for accepting answer", yet there is only one vote of 2.

What you reported is different from mine and surely again something to look at.
I reported, 1 5-vote with comment of answer accepted but when we go to that answer it is not marked as accepted where as your case is, NO 1 5-vote inspite of comment of answer accepted and answer also marked accepted.

I know, I was just pointing out that there are other parts of this functionality that are broken. They might as well kill 2 birds with one stone when they get around to fixing this (if they indeed need to fix anything).
