Thankyou for the help guys
It seems the most difficult part of building a website is getting pages lining up on multiple browsers.

hi,
While appending a node,whether it will affect original file or not
below is my code
<html>
<body>
<script type="text/javascript">
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
}
else
{// code for IE6, IE5
xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
xmlhttp.open("GET","x.xml",false);
xmlhttp.send();
xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML;
x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("CD");
for (i=0;i<x[0].childNodes.length;i++)
{
if (x[0].childNodes[i].nodeType==1)
{
document.write(x[0].childNodes[i].nodeName);
document.write(": ");
document.write(x[0].childNodes[i].childNodes[0].nodeValue);
document.write("<br />");
}
}
document.write('<br>-----------------<br>');
for(i=0;i<x.length;i++)
{
newel=xmlDoc.createElement("PUBLICATION");
newtext=xmlDoc.createTextNode("2007");
newel.appendChild(newtext);
x[i].appendChild(newel);
}
for(i=0;i<x.length;i++)
{
for (j=0;j<x[i].childNodes.length;j++)
{
if (x[i].childNodes[j].nodeType==1)
{
document.write(x[i].childNodes[j].nodeName);
document.write(": ");
document.write(x[i].childNodes[j].childNodes[0].nodeValue);
document.write("<br />");
}
}
document.write("<br />");
}
alert
</script>
</body>
</html>

I'm using the code snippet below in my global.asax.vb to selectively switch between https and https for the "contact.aspx" page. The redirection works fine to and from https but I get a pop up saying that there is some unsecured content on the page.
- If I comment out this bit of code and access it using https://www.mydomain.com/contact.aspx, there is no security warning (IE8 and FF3.6)
- If the code is active, I am on http://www.mydomain.com/default.aspx and click the Contact link (http) I am redirected to https://www.maydomain.com/contact.aspx (expected) but with a security warning...
Any help would be much appreciated!
If Not Request.IsSecureConnection AndAlso (Request.Url.AbsolutePath.ToLower = "/contact.aspx" OrElse Request.Url.AbsolutePath.Contains("/404.aspx") _
OrElse Request.Url.AbsolutePath.ToLower().Contains("/webresource.axd") OrElse Request.Url.AbsolutePath.ToLower().Contains("/scriptresource.axd")) Then
Context.Response.Redirect(Context.Request.Url.ToString().Replace("http:", "https:"))
ElseIf Request.IsSecureConnection AndAlso Request.Url.AbsolutePath.ToLower <> "/contact.aspx" AndAlso Not Request.Url.AbsolutePath.Contains("bc.vm") AndAlso Not Request.Url.AbsolutePath.Contains("/404.aspx") _
AndAlso Not Request.Url.AbsolutePath.ToLower().Contains("/webresource.axd") AndAlso Request.Url.AbsolutePath.ToLower().Contains("/scriptresource.axd") Then
Context.Response.Redirect(Context.Request.Url.ToString().Replace("https:", "http:"))
End If

Check all the image, CSS, Javascript and frame links in the page for absolute URLs - these have to use HTTPS too.

Thanks!
I noticed that the master page has 2 absolute references http://www.anotherdomain.com; I'm gonna try to comment them out and see.
How come when I request the page directly via https I do not have a problem? The warning only occurs upon redirection

What have you already tried? How did that work out? What specific issues did you find that you need help with? No one will supply you with a solution and you could try Googling or searching the articles here.

You need to be specific. If you downloaded a control have you contacted the author for help?

Owing to a suggestion from one of the regulars I am going to start a League Table for the CCC solvers.
I think the easist way is to keep the table on a spreadsheet, and just embed this into a webpage.
Excel does offer the 'Save as HTML' option, so there is no real problem, but I would like to offer a sort option.
Is there an easy way of doing this or do I need to pick the spreadsheet data into a DB format?

I would think an online shared spreadsheet like Google Docs would be a better way of handling this sort of thing. You can invite as many people as you like to see it - post the link on your Codeproject profile page, for instance, or on your website and give editing rights to those that should have it.
Cheers,
Drew.

I have never used a google docs spreadsheet, so I may give it a look, however...
Can it be set up that only I can edit or change the data whilst allowing others to view and sort?

You can decide who gets to edit and who can view only or you have it a public spreadsheet where anyone can view but you decide who can edit.
Not sure about sorting though - I don't know if you need edit rights to do that.

Drew.

I've been trying to make a DIV element the full width of the page, using some CSS.
<div style="position: absolute; width: 100%; height: 80px; z-index: 2; left:0px; top:0px; background-color:#000000" id="layer1"><br />
Test</div>
However, in IE the element only goes about 90% of the width and there is always a blank area next to it. Does anyone know how to get around this? Thanks

Try adding
body {margin:0;padding:0;}
to your CSS

Thanks for the reply
I tried that, but I still have the white empty space at the end.
Heres what I've been trying:
<html>
<head>
<title>New Page 1</title>
</head>
<body>
<div style="margin:0; padding:0; position: absolute; width: 100%; height: 80px; z-index: 2; left:0px; top:0px; background-color:#000000" id="layer2">
Test</div>
</body>
</html>

No - add
<style>body {padding:0;margin:0;}</style>
to the head of your document. (Or, better still, remove all your styles to a separate CSS file.)
