I have written following the code for export gridview to excel in asp.net

It gives gridview in excel but not a normal excel file..........
how to do this..........

What do you mean by this? Not a normal excel file, what is the problem? there is a lot of code snippet available on google.

This excel sheet is not regular format like rows and columns only show gridview.

What is the extension of file you are getting?
If its .xls then it is excel format.
The gridlines might not be visible there, you have to add gridlines.

Actually you are saving HTML as Excel. That excel only shows the Grid's Gridlines. You can set gridlines manually by opening the excel.
Or write a ActiveX to generate original excel using the Grid's data.

I am trying to bind data to a custom control-dropdown.I created class file for control.Then made a DLL file and include that control in my website.I placed 2 dropdowns.1 for State and other for country.I want to populate both drop downs accordingly.I had written 2 SUBs-1 for state binding and other for Country Binding in class file.
Code for State Binding dropdown:-

As per our discussion yesterday night I am describe my problem.
I am working on a website with ASP.net. I want to use AJAX Tool for making the interactive website.
What is going on……?
I have a Menu control with 3 menu item, every menu item has its navigation url (which are for different webpages).If I click on particular Menu Item that particular webpage execute successfully with refreshing full webpage.
What I want…….
After clicking the menu item specific webpage area (Content Area) should be refresh instead refresh full webpage. You can say multiple Page want to navigate from single menu item on that single webpage without refreshing full page.
If u have any code (website) using with Ajax or any link on internet ;plz send me.

Hi there,
I have a Master page, which has a ContentPlaceHolder for the main content of the web pages to go in. I created a webpage from the Master and between the main content tags I put a PlaceHolder control, so that I can add controls via C#. Here is the ASP code below:
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="cphMainContent" Runat="Server">
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolderForm" runat="server"></asp:PlaceHolder>
</asp:Content>
The problem is when I try and access the PlaceHolder in my c# code it results in a null object. I was able to access the PlaceHolder fine until I put it in the Master page.
Does anyone know what I'm missing? How would I go about accessing the PlaceHolder inside a ContentPlaceHolder?

There is your answer. You have to access it through the master page or via the masterpage property.

I've tried accessing "Contact2" and "cphMainContent", which are the Content ID and ContentPlaceHolderID in the related aspx.cs file, but I recieve the error message:
The name 'cphMainContent' does not exist in the current context
How would I go about accessing the PlaceHolder though the Master page?

This happened because you are loading controls inside the
placeholder at runtime
So it may find placeholder null until you load any control inside it.
However, not sure about it.

So why are you generating the table like this but using a server control for the button? You can use a DataList or Reperator or DataGrid.

Response.Write executes after the Page Render, that is your button is already rendered in the UI. So, the table will be placed below the Button only. Place a Label or Literal above the Button and set the Text to the sb.ToString().

Please can anyone help me to provide link or code to implement rating control in asp.net.
requirement:
while putting rating, on mouse over, stars should be highlighted and can recognized value of clicked star.
while displaying star should be highlighted as per average rating, I mean to say that last star might be highlighted 1/2 or 3/4 or ... as per average rating.
like:average rating is 3.5 means 3 stars full and 4th star half will be highlighted.

I am saving pdf file into database reading from memroystream and it is saving properly, but when i try to retreive it it is throwing an error message "ile is damaged and could not be repaired".
I am using itextsharp to generate the PDF, as this is urgent appreciate help.

Hi,
without viewing at your code, it is difficult to decide where the problem is. I'm doing the same
thing with itextsharp and a mysql db in some project. Here is how i basically do it:
Document myDocument = new Document(PageSize.A4);
MemoryStream mstream = new MemoryStream();
PdfWriter.GetInstance(myDocument, mstream );
myDocument.Open();
myDocument.Close();
byte[] fileData = mstream.GetBuffer();
As you're posting this in the asp.net forum, i suppose you want to write this pdf to your reponse stream? (or to file?!)
This is how i write it to response-stream in page-load of a download page
(you have to replace mimeType, fileName, fileSize and fileData by your own variables/strings - with
fileData being the byte[] and filesize the length of that byte[]):
Response.ClearHeaders();
Response.ClearContent();
Response.ContentType = mimeType;
Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" +
HttpUtility.UrlEncode(fileName, System.Text.Encoding.UTF8));
Response.AppendHeader("content-length", fileSize.ToString());
Response.BinaryWrite(fileData);
Response.End();

I have an ASP.NET 1.1 web application that I'm required to migrate from an IIS 6 environment (Windows Server 2003) to an IIS 7 environment (Windows Server 2008).
I'm experiencing problems with the DHTML menus. In IIS 6 they display the text and the link whereas in IIS 7 it only displays the text, not the link.
Is there a patch that I need to install on Windows Server 2008 to rectify this problem? What am I missing?
The menus display when I view the site in Mozilla (however, the menus don't work 100%), but not IE8
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I am most confuzzled!!
