I'm setting up a small little website at home here as a non-profit thing for a local group. The issue I have is that my ip isn't static, the lease is long, several weeks I believe but my ip does change. I was wondering if there was some sort of website that would let me register my ip and I would direct the url there, and it would just send the browser to my ip. Then I could keep the same url but change the ip periodically. Ideally the service would let me update the ip automatically via web service or something. I did some google searching but the results were littered with scam web hosting sites. Any suggestions or am I even going about this entirely the wrong way. I've only ever developed for companies that have their own dedicated public servers before.

I have used http://www.dyndns.com/[^] in the past and it was reliable. It has an update client which would keep updating your ip address as it gets changed.

I tried co.nr site and noip program which updates the dynamic ip to co.nr... you can google search for noip and just type in the browser as co.nr . they have this feature of forwarding. Since my modem did not have the option of port forwarding i could not set it up completely.

Here are two examples of how your code should look ...
<html><head><script>
init = function()
{
var1="hello";
alert(document.getElementById("HddElement").value)
document.getElementById("HddElement").value = var1;
alert(document.getElementById("HddElement").value)
}
</script></head><body onload="init()">
<input id="HddElement" type='hidden' value='hi'></input>
</body></html>
<html><head><script>
init = function()
{
var1="hello";
f = document.forms[0];
alert(f.HddElement.value)
f.HddElement.value = var1;
alert(f.HddElement.value)
}
</script></head><body onload="init()">
<form>
<input name="HddElement" type='hidden' value='hi'></input>
</form>
</body></html>

Well for starters your hidden element should look like this: <input type="hidden" name="HddElement" id="HddElement" />

this validates ...

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8">

</title>
</head>
<body>
<div><span>hi</span>
<p><input name="HddElement" type='hidden' value="hi"></p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
this gives warning ...
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8">

</title>
</head>
<body>
<div><span>hi</span>
<p><input name="HddElement" type='hidden' value="hi" /></p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
here is the warning ...
The sequence <FOO /> can be interpreted in at least two different ways, depending on the DOCTYPE of the document. For HTML 4.01 Strict, the '/' terminates the tag <FOO (with an implied '>'). However, since many browsers don't interpret it this way, even in the presence of an HTML 4.01 Strict DOCTYPE, it is best to avoid it completely in pure HTML documents and reserve its use solely for those written in XHTML.

Because, you are not supplying the "ID" in the element.

Hi,
I am trying to edit the html of my web pages in IE 8. I went to developer tools [F12] and set the default tool to Notepad. When I save the changes they are not getting saved. Any advice why?
|
|
|
|
|
How do you know they are not getting saved? Have you reloaded the page from the saved file?

IE doesn't allow you to edit the server version. It allows you to edit the local cached version.

Thanks for your replies.
I was actually desktoping into the remote m/c and due to some access issue it wasn't getting saved.
Strangely though it never pop-up a message window regarding access denied or not saved etc.!!!
Thanks.

Since it IE is loading a "URL", notepad opens a temp file.

Hi,
Want to Create An ATM Sofware Where we would be able
to not only withdraw money but we'd be able to
Deposite Money too.
Please Give me Some Required Solution................

There are large companies that their entire business is developing ATMs. No one is going to give you thousands of dollars worth of software for free in a forum. And even if they did, I wouldn't trust the security or quality and I would be worried that they built in a back door.

Hi!
I work in a government institution and we developed an ASP.NET application for one of the departments and they now need to access the application offline. I'm currently researching the ASP.NET MVC and Silverlight 4. I am a newby to these technologies. Could you please advice on which technology will meet my requirements?

It depends on the requirements and what is meant by "offline". Since both Silverlight and ASP.NET MVC are web based the users will still need to connect to a web server. For a true offline application you would need a desktop app that could cache data and update when online.

Hiii
I have one password blocking requirement as
After 3 bad login attempts an id should be locked for 10 minutes
After 3 additional bad login attempts, the id should be locked until reset
For errors when no user is found, the password does not match, or the account is locked; display “Incorrect Email/Password Combination.
Passwords are case sensitive. Please check your CAPS lock key.
But there are many constraints....Have any help articles about the above or Sample programs...Please reply.....
Advance Thanks...

So what part are you having difficulties with? The no user found case is very easy.

Without telling us the technology you are using it is tough to give you good answers. Someone could give you a sample in C#, but if you are using PHP that probably won't help you much at all.
